ऑस्ट्रेलिया में बनेगा दुनिया का पहला प्लैटिपस अभयारण्य
- ऑस्ट्रेलियाई संरक्षणवादियों ने प्लैटिपस (Platypus) के प्रजनन और पुनर्वास को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से दुनिया के पहले अभयारण्य का निर्माण करने की अपनी योजनाओं की घोषणा की है। गौरतलब हैं कि जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण बत्तखमुँह स्तनपायी (duck-billed mammal) विलुप्त होने की कगार पर हैं।
- टारोंगा कंजर्वेशन सोसाइटी (Taronga Conservation Society) ऑस्ट्रेलिया और न्यू साउथ वेल्स राज्य सरकार ने वर्ष 2022 तक सिडनी से 391 किमी दूर एक चिड़ियाघर में अर्ध-जलीय जीवों के लिए विशेषज्ञ सुविधा, ज्यादातर तालाब, और मांद बनाने की योजना की घोषणा की है।

DRDO ने सफलतापूर्वक SFDR तकनीक का परीक्षण किया
- रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (DRDO) ने ओडिशा तट से दूर एकीकृत परीक्षण रेंज (ITR), चांदीपुर से सॉलिड फ्यूल डक्टेड रैमजेट (SFDR) तकनीक का सफल उड़ान परीक्षण किया। एसएफडीआर तकनीक डीआरडीओ को लंबी दूरी की हवा से हवा में मार करने वाली मिसाइल (एएएम) विकसित करने में तकनीकी मदद करेगी। DRDO ने 2017 में सबसे पहले SFDR विकसित करना शुरू किया और 2018 और 2019 में भी सफल परीक्षण किए।
- SFDR एक मिसाइल प्रणोदन प्रणाली है जिसे मुख्य रूप से हैदराबाद में रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास प्रयोगशाला (DRDL) और अनुसंधान केंद्र Imarat (RCI) द्वारा विकसित किया जा रहा है।
- हाई एनर्जी मटेरियल रिसर्च लेबोरेटरी (HEMRL) ने नोजल-कम बूस्टर विकसित किया है जबकि रूसी सहायता के लिए रैमजेट इंजन विकसित किया जा रहा है।
- आईटीआर द्वारा तैनात इलेक्ट्रो-ऑप्टिकल, रडार और टेलीमेट्री उपकरणों द्वारा कैप्चर किए गए डेटा का उपयोग करके मिसाइल के प्रदर्शन की निगरानी की गई और मिशन के उद्देश्यों के सफल प्रदर्शन की पुष्टि की।
खेल
खेलो इंडिया विंटर नेशनल गेम्स में जम्मू-कश्मीर शीर्ष स्थान पर रहा
- केंद्र शासित प्रदेश जम्मू और कश्मीर ने खेले इंडिया विंटर नेशनल गेम्स (Khelo India Winter National Games) के दूसरे संस्करण में पदक तालिका में शीर्ष स्थान प्राप्त किया है। जम्मू और कश्मीर ने 11 स्वर्ण, 18 रजत और 5 कांस्य पदक जीते। उत्तरी कश्मीर के बारामूला जिले के गुलमर्ग के प्रसिद्ध स्की रिसोर्ट में 26 फरवरी से शुरू होने वाले पांच दिवसीय मेगा खेल कार्यक्रम का समापन हो गया है। इस कार्यक्रम का ई-उद्घाटन प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने किया था।
खेले इंडिया विंटर नेशनल गेम्स के बारे में:
- खेलो इंडिया विंटर गेम्स का दूसरा संस्करण जम्मू और कश्मीर को शीतकालीन खेलों का केंद्र बनाने की दिशा में एक बड़ा कदम है।
- इस आयोजन में 27 राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के 1,000 से अधिक एथलीटों ने हिस्सा लिया।
- इस कार्यक्रम का आयोजन जम्मू और कश्मीर के J&K खेल परिषद और शीतकालीन खेल संघ के सहयोग से केंद्रीय युवा मामले और खेल मंत्रालय द्वारा किया गया था।
नियुक्ति एवं इस्तीफे
मैरी कॉम AIBA की चैंपियन और दिग्गज समिति की अध्यक्ष नियुक्त
- छह बार की विश्व चैंपियन मुक्केबाज मैरी कॉम को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुक्केबाजी संघ (International Boxing Association-AIBA) चैंपियंस और दिग्गज समिति (Champions and Veterans Committee) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। 37 वर्षीय मैरी कॉम को 03 मार्च, 2021 को AIBA के निदेशक मंडल द्वारा इस पद के लिए चुना गया था।
- समिति का गठन दिसंबर 2020 में किया गया था। इसमें दुनिया भर में सबसे अधिक सम्मानित मुक्केबाजी के दिग्गज और चैंपियन शामिल हैं, जिन्होंने महत्वपूर्ण परिणाम हासिल किए और अपने अनुभव को साझा करने के लिए तैयार हैं।

भारत ने 4 मार्च को 'चाबहार दिवस' मनाया
- विदेश मंत्रालय द्वारा भारत में 4 मार्च को नई दिल्ली में आयोजित होने वाले समुद्री भारत शिखर सम्मेलन (Maritime India Summit) 2021 के अवसर पर 'चाबहार दिवस (Chabahar Day)' मनाया गया। वर्चुअल कार्यक्रम में अफगानिस्तान, आर्मेनिया, ईरान, कजाकिस्तान, रूस और उज्बेकिस्तान के मंत्रियों की भागीदारी देखी जाएगी। शिखर सम्मेलन 2-4 मार्च, 2021 से आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
- मंत्री-स्तरीय उद्घाटन सत्र के बाद दो वेबिनार सत्र होंगे, जिनका शीर्षक है 'व्यापार संवर्धन और क्षेत्रीय कनेक्टिविटी के माध्यम से व्यापार को बढ़ावा देना (Boosting Business through Trade Promotion and Regional Connectivity)' और 'पोर्ट इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर का विकास: अवसरों का विकास (Development of Port Infrastructure: Unleashing Opportunities)'।
- यह चाबहार में एक बंदरगाह है, जो ओमान की खाड़ी में दक्षिण-पूर्वी ईरान में स्थित है। यह बंदरगाह ईरान के एकमात्र समुद्री बंदरगाह के रूप में कार्य करता है।
- पोर्ट में दो अलग-अलग पोर्ट शामिल हैं, जिनका नाम है शाहिद बेहेशती और शाहिद कलंतरी।पोर्ट को पहली बार वर्ष 1973 में ईरान के आखिरी शाह द्वारा प्रस्तावित किया गया था।पहला चरण 1983 में खोला गया था।

भारत-स्वीडन वर्चुअल समिट 2021
- प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने स्वीडन के प्रधान मंत्री स्टीफन लोफवेन के साथ आभासी भारत-स्वीडन शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लिया है। वर्चुअल समिट का आयोजन क्षेत्रीय और वैश्विक मुद्दों पर विचारों का आदान-प्रदान करने और दोनों देशों के बीच द्विपक्षीय संबंधों पर चर्चा करने के लिए किया गया था। 2015 के बाद से दोनों नेताओं के बीच यह पांचवीं बातचीत थी।
- दोनों नेताओं ने रेखांकित किया कि भारत और स्वीडन के बीच लंबे समय तक घनिष्ठ संबंध लोकतंत्र, कानून के शासन, बहुलवाद, समानता, बोलने की स्वतंत्रता और मानव अधिकारों के सम्मान के साझा मूल्यों पर आधारित थे।
- प्रधान मंत्री मोदी ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सौर गठबंधन (आईएसए) में शामिल होने के स्वीडन के फैसले का स्वागत किया।
- नेताओं ने भारत-स्वीडन संयुक्त पहल के बढ़ते सदस्य-जहाज - सिंधु-ट्रान्स ट्रांजिशन (लीडिट) पर लीडरशिप ग्रुप का उल्लेख किया, जिसे सितंबर 2019 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र जलवायु कार्रवाई शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान न्यूयॉर्क में लॉन्च किया गया था।
- दोनों नेताओं ने टीकाकरण अभियान सहित कोविद -19 स्थिति पर भी चर्चा की और सभी देशों में टीकों को तत्काल और सस्ती पहुंच प्रदान करके वैक्सीन इक्विटी की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया।
पुरस्कार एवं सम्मान
मोहनकृष्ण बोहरा को किया जाएगा साल 2020 के बिहारी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित
- वर्ष 2020 का 30 वां बिहारी पुरस्कार मोहनकृष्ण बोहरा को उनकी आलोचना की हिंदी पुस्तक, तस्लीमा: संघर्ष और साहित्य को दिया जाएगा। के.के. बिड़ला फाउंडेशन ने नई दिल्ली में यह घोषणा की। ये पुस्तक 2016 में प्रकाशित हुई थी।
- बिहारी पुरस्कार में दो लाख 50 हजार रुपये, प्रशस्ति पत्र और पट्टिका के पुरस्कार के रूप में प्रदान किया जाता है। यह पुरस्कार 1991 में के.के. बिड़ला फाउंडेशन द्वारा स्थापित तीन साहित्यिक पुरस्कारों में से एक है। प्रसिद्ध हिंदी कवि बिहारी के नाम पर, यह पुरस्कार हर साल राजस्थानी लेखक द्वारा पिछले 10 वर्षों में प्रकाशित हिंदी या राजस्थानी में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए दिया जाता है।
WAN-IFRA ने द हिंदू ग्रुप को ‘चैंपियन पब्लिशर ऑफ द ईयर’ 2020 का नाम दिया
- द हिंदू ग्रुप ने WAN IFRA (वर्ल्ड एसोसिएशन ऑफ न्यूज पब्लिशर्स-World Association of News Publishers) के साउथ एशियन डिजिटल मीडिया अवार्ड्स में दो स्वर्ण और दो सिल्वर जीते, जिसका नाम ‘चैंपियन पब्लिशर ऑफ द ईयर (Champion Publisher of the Year)’ रखा गया, जो कि अंक तालिका में सबसे अधिक है।
- पुरस्कारों को डिजिटल मीडिया में समाचार प्रकाशकों द्वारा किए गए उत्कृष्ट कार्यों की पहचान के लिए प्रस्तुत किया जाता है। विजेताओं को 3 मार्च, 2021 को आयोजित डिजिटल मीडिया इंडिया 2021 सम्मेलन में वर्चुअली सम्मानित किया गया।

नगरपालिका प्रदर्शन सूचकांक (MPI) 2020 में इंदौर और NDMC शीर्ष पर
- आवास और शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय (Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs) ने नगरपालिका प्रदर्शन सूचकांक (Municipal Performance Index-MPI) 2020 की अंतिम रैंकिंग जारी की है। रैंकिंग ने नगरपालिकाओं को उनकी आबादी के आधार पर दो श्रेणियों में वर्गीकृत किया है, जो हैं: मिलियन-प्लस (million-plus) श्रेणी और मिलियन से कम (less than million) श्रेणियां। नगरपालिका प्रदर्शन सूचकांक, नगरपालिकाओं को बेहतर नियोजन और प्रबंधन में मदद करेगा, शहर प्रशासन में अंतराल को भरने और अपने नागरिकों के लिए शहरों के रहने की जगह में सुधार करेगा।
मिलियन-प्लस (million-plus) जनसंख्या श्रेणी
- इस सूची में इंदौर सबसे ऊपर है, इसके बाद सूरत और भोपाल हैं।
मिलियन से कम (less than million) श्रेणी
- नई दिल्ली नगरपालिका परिषद (NDMC) लीडर के रूप में उभरी, उसके बाद तिरुपति और गांधीनगर हैं।
नगरपालिका प्रदर्शन सूचकांक 2020
- नगरपालिका प्रदर्शन सूचकांक 2020 ने 111 नगरपालिकाओं के क्षेत्रीय प्रदर्शन की जांच की है। दिल्ली को NDMC, और तीनों नगर निगमों के लिए अलग-अलग मूल्यांकन किया गया है।
- उनकी पाँच वर्टिकलों में क्षेत्रवार किए गए प्रदर्शन की जांच की गई, जिसमें कुल मिलाकर 20 सेक्टर और 100 संकेतक शामिल हैं।
- नगरपालिका प्रदर्शन सूचकांक के अंतर्गत आने वाले पाँच वर्टिकल हैं: सेवाएँ, वित्त, नीति, प्रौद्योगिकी और शासन।

NPCI और SBI पेमेंट्स ने भारतीय व्यापारियों के लिए "RuPay SoftPoS" लॉन्च करने की भागीदारी की
- नेशनल पेमेंट्स कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (NPCI) और SBI पेमेंट्स ने भारतीय व्यापारियों के लिए "RuPay SoftPoS" लॉन्च करने की भागीदारी की है। RuPay SoftPoS समाधान मामूली लागत पर खुदरा विक्रेताओं को लागत प्रभावी स्वीकृति बुनियादी ढांचा प्रदान करेगा। यह अभिनव समाधान खुदरा विक्रेताओं के लिए एनएफसी सक्षम स्मार्टफ़ोन को मर्चेंट पॉइंट ऑफ़ सेल (PoS) टर्मिनलों में बदलने की क्षमता रखता है।

- यह समाधान सूक्ष्म और छोटे व्यापारियों को भुगतान प्राप्त करने के तरीके में क्रांति लाएगा और इसके बजाय सुरक्षित, संपर्क रहित डिजिटल भुगतान स्वीकार करने के लिए नकदी में सौदा करने की उनकी प्रवृत्ति में एक सीमांकित बदलाव पैदा करेगा।

Australia building world’s first platypus sanctuary
- Australian conservationists have unveiled plans to build the world’s first refuge for the platypus, to promote breeding and rehabilitation as the duck-billed mammal faces extinction due to climate change.
- The Taronga Conservation Society Australia and the New South Wales State government said they would build the specialist facility, mostly ponds and burrows for the semi-aquatic creatures, at a zoo 391 km from Sydney, by 2022.
NATIONAL
DRDO successfully flight test SFDR technology
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight test of Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from the integrated test range (ITR), Chandipur, off Odisha coast. The SFDR technology will help DRDO with the technological advantage to develop long-range air-to-air missiles (AAMs). DRDO began developing SFDR first in 2017 and had conducted successful tests in 2018 and 2019 as well.
- The SFDR is a missile propulsion system being developed primarily by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) and Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in Hyderabad.
- The High Energy Material Research Laboratory (HEMRL) has developed the nozzle-less booster while the ramjet engine is being developed with Russian assistance.
- The performance of the missile was monitored using the data captured by Electro-Optical, Radar and Telemetry instruments deployed by ITR and confirmed successful demonstration of the mission objectives.

J&K tops medals tally at Khelo India Winter National Games
- Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir topped the medals tally in the second edition of the Khelo India Winter National Games. J&K won 11 gold, 18 silver and 5 bronze medals. The five-day mega sports event which began on the 26th of February concluded in the famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The event was e-inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- The second edition of the Khelo India winter games is a major step towards making Jammu and Kashmir a hub of the winter games.
- In the event, more than 1,000 athletes from 27 states and union territories took part.
- The event was organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir.
APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS
Mary Kom appointed chairperson of AIBA’s champions and veterans committee
- Six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom has been appointed as the Chairperson of the International Boxing Association’s (AIBA) Champions and Veterans Committee. The 37-year-old was voted to the post by AIBA’s board of directors on March 03, 2021.
- The Committee was formed in December 2020. It consists of the most respected worldwide boxing veterans and champions who have achieved significant results and who are ready to share their experience.
IMPORTANT DAYS
India to commemorate ‘Chabahar Day’ on 4 March
- The Ministry of External Affairs India had commemorate ‘Chabahar Day’ on March 4 on the sidelines of the Maritime India Summit 2021 being held in New Delhi. The virtual event had see the participation of ministers from Afghanistan, Armenia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan. The Summit is being held from March 2-4, 2021.
- The ministerial-level opening session would be followed by two webinar sessions namely the ‘Boosting Business through Trade Promotion and Regional Connectivity’ and ‘Development of Port Infrastructure: Unleashing Opportunities’.
- It is a seaport in Chabahar which is located in south-eastern Iran in the Gulf of Oman. The port serves as the only oceanic port of Iran.
- The port comprises two separate ports namely the Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Kalantari. The port was first proposed by the last shah of Iran in the year 1973. The first phase was opened in 1983.

India-Sweden Virtual Summit 2021
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has participated in the virtual India-Sweden summit, with the Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Lofven. The virtual summit was organised to exchange views on regional and global issues and to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries. This was the fifth interaction between the two leaders since 2015.
- Both the leaders underlined that the longstanding close relations between India and Sweden were based on shared values of democracy, rule of law, pluralism, equality, freedom of speech, and respect for human rights.
- Prime Minister Modi welcomed Sweden’s decision to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
- The leaders also noted the growing member-ship of the India-Sweden joint initiative – the Leadership Group on Indus-try Transition (LeadIT) that was launched during the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019 in New York.
- The two leaders also discussed the Covid-19 situation including the vaccination drive and stressed the need for vaccine equity by providing urgent and affordable access to vaccines across all nations.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
Bihari Puraskar 2020 to be awarded to Mohankrishna Bohara
- The 30th Bihari Puraskar for 2020 will be given to Mohankrishna Bohara for his Hindi book of Criticism, titled Taslima: Sangharsh aur Sahitya. The K.K. Birla Foundation announced this in New Delhi. The book was published in 2016.
- Bihari Puraskar carries award money of two lakh 50 thousand rupees, a Citation and a Plaque. The award is one of the three literary awards instituted by the K.K. Birla Foundation in 1991. Named after famous Hindi poet Bihari, the award is given every year for an outstanding work in Hindi or Rajasthani published in the last 10 years by a Rajasthani writer.
WAN-IFRA names The Hindu Group ‘Champion Publisher of the Year 2020’
- The Hindu Group won two golds and two silvers at South Asian Digital Media Awards given by WAN IFRA (World Association of News Publishers), culminating in being named ‘Champion Publisher of the Year’, owing to the highest tally on the points table.
- The awards are presented in recognition of outstanding work done by news publishers, in digital media. The winners were honoured virtually at the Digital Media India 2021 Conference held on March 3, 2021.

Indore and NDMC tops Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020
- The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has released the final rankings of the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020. The ranking has classified municipalities into two categories based on their population which are: million-plus category and the less than million categories. The Municipal Performance Index will help Municipalities in better planning and management, filling the gaps in city administration, and improving the liveability of cities for its citizens.
Million plus population category
- Indore has topped this list, followed by Surat and Bhopal.
Less than a million category
- New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) emerged as the leader, followed by Tirupati and Gandhinagar.
Municipal Performance Index 2020
- The Municipal Performance Index 2020 has examined the sectoral performance of 111 municipalities. Delhi has been assessed separately for NDMC, and the three Municipal Corporations.
- They have been accessed across five verticals which comprise of 20 sectors and 100 indicators in all totality.
- The five verticals under the Municipal Performance Index are Services, Finance, Policy, Technology and Governance.

NPCI Partners SBI Payments to launch “RuPay SoftPoS” for Merchants
- National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and SBI Payments have partnered to launch “RuPay SoftPoS” for Indian merchants. The RuPay SoftPoS solution will provide a cost-effective acceptance infrastructure to retailers at a nominal cost. This innovative solution has the capability to transform NFC enabled smartphones into merchant Point of Sale (PoS) terminals for the retailers.
- RuPay SoftPoS is expected to provide seamless, cost-effective acceptance infrastructure to retailers at a nominal cost, and help deepen the digital payment acceptance among millions of underserved Indian MSMEs.
- RuPay SoftPoS will enable merchants to use their near-field communication (NFC)-enabled smartphones as the point of sale (PoS) terminals and accept payment up to Rs 5,000 through a simple tap and pay mechanism.
- Merchants can convert their existing android smartphone devices into a payment terminal by simply downloading a supported app.
- This solution will revolutionise the way micro and small merchants receive payments and create a demarcated shift in their tendency to deal in cash to accepting secure, contactless digital payments instead.
