जम्मू-कश्मीर के डोडा में पहली बार व्हाइट वाटर राफ्टिंग फेस्टिवल का आयोजन किया गया

• जम्मू-कश्मीर,केंद्र शासित प्रदेश में, डोडा जिला प्रशासन द्वारा भद्रवाह विकास प्राधिकरण (BDA) और जम्मू-कश्मीर के साहसिक समूह के समन्वय में पहली बार साहसिक खेल आयोजन, चेनाब व्हाइट वाटर राफ्टिंग फेस्टिवल का आज डोडा के प्रेमनगर शिबनत में समापन हुआ।
• इसमे जिले भर से लगभग 1,500 लोग विशेष रूप से, युवा 2 दिन के उत्सव में शामिल हुए और 150 से अधिक लोगों ने प्रेमनगर शिबनत से करारा तक राफ्टिंग यात्रा में भाग लिया। डीडीसी, डोडा सागर डोईफोड के साथ-साथ सीओ 10 राष्ट्रीय राइफल्स के अलावा, जिले के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के युवाओं ने दूसरे दिन कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया और राफ्टिंग की सवारी भी की।
• इस कार्यक्रम में स्थानीय लोगों के आनंद के लिए स्थल पर विविध गतिविधियों को भी देखा गया जिसमें वॉलीबॉल मैच, कबड्डी, फ्री-स्टाइल कुश्ती और नृत्य प्रदर्शन शामिल हैं।

 ई-गवर्नेंस को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सीएम ने शुरू किया डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म 'जागृत त्रिपुरा'

• त्रिपुरा सरकार लोगों को केंद्र और राज्य सरकार की विभिन्न योजनाओं का लाभ दिलाने में मदद करने के लिए एक डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म 'जागृत त्रिपुरा' शुरू किया है। दोनों सरकारों के विभिन्न विभागों की कम से कम 102 योजनाएँ मंच पर उपलब्ध हैं। 'जागृत त्रिपुरा’ पूर्वोत्तर राज्य के नागरिकों को सशक्त करेगा। डिजिटल मंच राज्य सरकार द्वारा 'आत्मनिर्भर’(self-reliant) त्रिपुरा बनाने के लिए एक प्रौद्योगिकी-नेतृत्व वाले नवाचार पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए की गई कई सक्रिय पहलों में से एक है।
• यह परियोजना EasyGov, एक जिओ ग्रुप कंपनी द्वारा विकसित की गई थी, और यह त्रिपुरा के सभी निवासियों के लिए उपलब्ध होगी। ''जागृत'' के साथ, हम लोगों को उन लाभों को प्राप्त करने के लिए सशक्त बनाना चाहते हैं जो उनके योग्य हैं, और परिवार-केंद्रित, प्रगतिशील मॉडल के निर्माण पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया जा रहा है जिसमें 'एक डेटा एक स्रोत' और गोपनीयता प्रमुख है।

• लोकतंत्र और स्वतंत्र समाज के रूप में भारत की स्थिति वैश्विक राजनीतिक अधिकारों और अमेरिकी सरकार द्वारा वित्त पोषित गैर सरकारी संगठन फ्रीडम हाउस की स्वतंत्रता पर नवीनतम वार्षिक रिपोर्ट में "आंशिक रूप से मुक्त" करने के लिए डाउनग्रेड कर दी गई है, जो दुनिया भर में राजनीतिक स्वतंत्रता का अध्ययन करता है। रिपोर्ट का शीर्षक "विश्व में स्वतंत्रता 2021- घेराबंदी के तहत लोकतंत्र (Freedom in the World 2021 - Democracy under Siege)" है। भारत के "स्वतंत्र राष्ट्रों के ऊपरी रैंक से गिरने का वैश्विक लोकतांत्रिक मानकों पर विशेष रूप से हानिकारक प्रभाव पड़ सकता है"।

लिगिया नोरोन्हा बनी संयुक्त राष्ट्र सहायक महासचिव

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र के प्रमुख एंटोनियो गुटेरेस (Antonio Guterres) ने प्रमुख भारतीय अर्थशास्त्री लिगिया नोरोन्हा (Ligia Noronha) को संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यावरण कार्यक्रम (UNEP) के न्यूयॉर्क कार्यालय के सहायक महासचिव और प्रमुख के रूप में नियुक्त किया है। UNEP में शामिल होने से पहले, नोरोन्हा ने नई दिल्ली में द एनर्जी एंड रिसोर्सेज इंस्टीट्यूट (TERI) में कार्यकारी निदेशक (अनुसंधान समन्वय) और संसाधन, विनियमन और वैश्विक सुरक्षा पर प्रभाग के निदेशक के रूप में काम किया।
• नोरोन्हा एक अर्थशास्त्री है जिनके पास सतत विकास के क्षेत्र में 30 वर्षों का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अनुभव है।

 तरुण बजाज संभालेंगे राजस्व सचिव का अतिरिक्त प्रभार

• आर्थिक मामलों के विभाग के सचिव, तरुण बजाज को राजस्व सचिव का अतिरिक्त प्रभार दिया गया है। वर्तमान राजस्व सचिव अजय भूषण पांडे 28 फरवरी को सेवानिवृत्त हो रहे हैं। केंद्र ने वित्त सचिव अजय भूषण पांडे को विस्तार नहीं देने का फैसला किया है जो वित्त मंत्रालय में राजस्व विभाग का अतिरिक्त प्रभार भी संभाल रहे थे।
• वित्त मंत्रालय के एक पुराने कर्मचारी, तरुण बजाज ने पिछले मई में आर्थिक मामलों के सचिव के रूप में पदभार संभाला था, उस समय जब भारत ने कोविड -19 महामारी के कारण इतिहास में सबसे खराब विकास संकुचन देखा था।

• एक्सिस सिक्योरिटीज ने सेकेंडरी मार्केट में बॉन्ड के साथ-साथ डिबेंचर खरीदने और बेचने के लिए एक ऑनलाइन प्लेटफॉर्म - 'YIELD' के लॉन्च की घोषणा की है। प्रतिस्पर्धी दर और तकनीकी जानकारी प्रदान करके, YIELD सही निवेश निर्णय लेने के लिए निवेशकों को सशक्त करेगा। निष्पादित लेनदेन का व्यापार और निपटान बीएसई एनडीएस (नया ऋण खंड) प्लेटफॉर्म पर रिपोर्ट किया जाएगा।

• निजी क्षेत्र के ऋणदाता कोटक महिंद्रा बैंक भारतीय सेना के कर्मियों के वेतन खाते को संभालेंगे। बैंक ने वेतन खाते के लिए भारतीय सेना के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन (MoU) पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। MoU कोटक को भारतीय सेना के लिए विशेष लाभ के साथ सभी सैन्य कर्मियों के लिए - सक्रिय और सेवानिवृत्त दोनों के लिए अपने वेतन खाता प्रस्ताव की पेशकश करने में सक्षम बनाता है।
• कोटक वेतन खाते के माध्यम से, भारतीय सेना के सभी कर्मियों को कोटक के उत्पादों और सेवाओं की पूरी श्रृंखला तक पहुंच प्राप्त होगी, जिसमें एक शून्य-शेष वेतन खाता भी शामिल है, जो पूरे भारत में बैंक की 1,603 शाखाओं और 2,573 एटीएम के नेटवर्क में सभी वीसा एटीएम और कहीं भी बैंकिंग पर मुफ्त असीमित एटीएम लेनदेन के साथ 4 प्रतिशत तक की वार्षिक आय देता है।

 HDFC ERGO ने बिजनेस किश्त सुरक्षा कवर लॉन्च किया

• HDFC ERGO जनरल इंश्योरेंस ने "बिजनेस किश्त सुरक्षा (Business Kisht Suraksha)" कवर लॉन्च किया है। यह अनूठा कवर किसी भी तबाही या प्राकृतिक आपदा के आने पर माइक्रो फाइनेंस इंस्टीट्यूशंस (एमएफआई), वित्तीय संस्थानों और बैंकों की बैलेंस शीट की सुरक्षा के उद्देश्य से लॉन्च किया गया था।
• यह वित्तीय संस्थानों की बैलेंस शीट पर प्रभावों को सीमित करने के उद्देश्य से शुरू किया गया था, जो उधारकर्ताओं द्वारा ईएमआई का भुगतान न करने या भूकंप, बाढ़, चक्रवात जैसी कई आपदाओं के कारण होता है।
• बिजनेस किश्त को व्यक्तिगत MFI या वित्तीय संस्थान (FI) की जरूरतों के अनुसार अनुकूलित किया जा सकता है। यह उधारकर्ता, एमएफआई या किसी एफआई की भौगोलिक उपस्थिति के आधार पर आवश्यकता अनुसार भी हो सकता है।
• MFI या FI को EMI की संख्या का चयन करने का विकल्प भी दिया जाएगा जिसमें बीमा कवरेज की आवश्यकता हो सकती है।

First-ever White Water Rafting Festival organised in J&K's Doda

• In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the first-ever adventure sports event, Chenab White Water Rafting Festival organised by the Doda District Administration in coordination with Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) and J&K Adventure group culminated today at Premnagar Shibnote in Doda amid overwhelming response from the people.
• 1,500 people from across the district especially, youth attended the festival on day 2 and over 150 participated in the rafting trip from Premnagar Shibnote to Karara. DDC, Doda Sagar Doifode along with CO 10 Rashtriya Rifles, besides youth from various areas of the district participated in the event on the 2nd day and also took a rafting ride.
• The event also witnessed multifarious activities at the venue for the enjoyment of the locals which includes volleyball matches, kabaddi, free-style wrestling and dance performances.

Digital platform ‘Jagrut Tripura’ launched by CM to boost e- governance

• The Tripura government has come up with a digital platform ‘Jagrut Tripura’ to help people get benefits from various schemes of the Centre and the state government. At least 102 schemes of various departments of both governments are available on the platform. The ‘Jagrut Tripura’ will empower citizens of the northeastern state. The digital platform is one of the many proactive initiatives undertaken by the state government to spur a technology-led innovation ecosystem to make ‘Atmanirbhar’ (self-reliant) Tripura.
• The project was developed by EasyGov, a Jio Group company, and it will be available to all the residents of Tripura. “With ‘Jagrut’, we want to empower people to get the benefits they deserve, and the focus is on building a family-centric, progressive model having ‘one data one source’ and privacy at the core.

 India downgraded from ‘free’ to ‘partly free’ in democracy report

• India’s status as a democracy and free society has been downgraded to “partly free” in the latest annual report on global political rights and liberties by Freedom House, a US government-funded NGO that studies political freedom around the world. The report titled “Freedom in the World 2021 – Democracy under Siege”. India’s fall “from the upper ranks of free nations could have a particularly damaging impact on global democratic standards”.
• India had been rated as “free” in Freedom House’s reports for 2018, 2019 and 2020, though its scores on a scale of 100 had declined during this period from 77 to 71. In the latest report, India had a score of 67 out of 100.
• In 1973, Freedom House launched the Freedom in the World report, which assessed the level of freedom in each country and ranked them with a numerical score and declared them as “free”, “partly free” or “not free”.
• The annual report is perceived as one of the oldest quantitative measures of democracy. The latest report said political rights and civil liberties in India had deteriorated since 2014 because of increased pressure on human rights organisations, rising intimidation of academics and journalists, and a “spate of bigoted attacks, including lynchings, aimed at Muslims”.

Ligia Noronha appointed UN Assistant Secretary-General

• UN chief Antonio Guterres has appointed leading Indian economist Ligia Noronha as Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the New York Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Prior to joining the UNEP, Noronha worked at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi as Executive Director (Research Coordination) and as Director of the Division on Resources, Regulation and Global Security.
• Noronha is an economist with over 30 years of international experience in the field of sustainable development.
• She has worked since 2014 as Director of UNEP’s Economy Division based in Nairobi, leading UNEP’s work on climate mitigation and energy transitions; on inclusive green economies, sustainable consumption and production, as well as on trade and sustainable finance, and the nexus of environment, pollution and health.

 Tarun Bajaj to take additional charge of Revenue Secretary

• Department of economic affairs secretary, Tarun Bajaj has been given the additional charge of revenue secretary. Present revenue secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey retires on February 28. The Centre has decided to not grant an extension to finance secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey who was also holding additional charge of the revenue department in the finance ministry.
• Tarun Bajaj, an old hand at the Finance Ministry, assumed charge as Economic Affairs secretary last May, at a time when India saw the worst growth contraction in history on account of the C-19 pandemic.
• Prior to taking over this post, he was Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
• Bajaj, a 1988-batch Haryana-cadre IAS officer, is not new to the functioning of the finance ministry as this is his third stint in the ministry.

Samsung Mastercard ink an Mou's

• Samsung Electronics’ System LSI Business, Mastercard, Samsung Card, have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a biometric card that features a built-in fingerprint scanner to authorize transactions securely at in-store payment terminals.
• Through this strategic collaboration, the companies aim to provide faster and more secure payment experiences. The biometric authentication capability allows safer interactions with reduced physical contact points by eliminating the need to enter a PIN on a keypad. It also adds an extra layer of security to currently available credit cards by verifying the cardholder’s identity via a unique fingerprint.
• The biometric cards will adopt a new security chipset from Samsung’s System LSI Business that integrates several key discrete chips, streamlining the overall component design and enabling more efficient development. These cards can be used at any Mastercard chip terminal or point of sale (POS) terminal.

 BANKING AND ECONOMY

Axis Securities' new platform to make investment in bond

• Axis Securities has announced the launch of 'YIELD' - an online platform to buy and sell bonds as well as debentures in the secondary market. By offering competitive rates and technical know-how, YIELD would empower the investors to make the right investment decision. The trades and settlement of transactions executed will be reported on the BSE NDS (new debt segment) platform.
• "YIELD is the first-of-its-kind initiative that allows retail investors direct access to the debt instruments," the brokerage house said in a statement.
• This new tool will remove the hassle of filling up physical forms or the need for separate KYC with the bond institutions, it added.
• To facilitate transactions only insecure options, it aggregates only 'AAA' to 'A' rated quality debt instruments available for investment in the secondary market.

Kotak Mahindra Bank tie-up with Indian army to handle salary accounts

• Private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank will handle the salary account of the Indian army personnel. The bank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army here for a salary account. The MoU enables Kotak to offer its salary account proposition, combined with exclusive benefits for the Indian Army, to all army personnel – both active and retired.
• Through the Kotak salary account, all personnel of the Indian army will get access to the full range of Kotak’s products and services including a zero-balance salary account that earns up to 4 per cent interest per annum with free unlimited ATM transactions on all VISA ATMs and anywhere banking across the bank’s network of 1,603 branches and 2,573 ATMs across India.
• The salary account will cover other benefits such as a bespoke salary account for the army personnel, enhanced complimentary personal accident insurance cover – for both on-duty and off-duty incidents.
• It covers accidental death for total or partial permanent disability. It will also offer special education benefit for children and additional girl child benefit by covering dependent children of up to 22 years in the event of an accident claim by the salary account holder.
• Among others, the account will also offer exclusive benefits on loans and credit cards by way of attractive rates and zero processing fees on personal, home and car loans and waiver on joining fees on credit cards.
• Zero-balance; family banking accounts, free online payment transactions, unlimited cheque books, best-in-class rates for dematerialised accounts (Demat) and best-in-class brokerage rates on trading accounts are the other benefits.

 HDFC ERGO launches Business Kisht Suraksha cover

• HDFC ERGO General Insurance has launched the “Business Kisht Suraksha” cover. It is a unique cover that was launched with the aim of protecting the balance sheet of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), financial institutions and banks if any catastrophe or a natural disaster occurs.
• This was launched with the aim of limiting the impacts on the balance sheet of financial institutions which occurs because of non-payment of EMIs by borrowers or because of several calamities like earthquakes, floods, cyclones.
• The Business Kisht can be customised as per the needs of the individual MFI or financial institution (FI). It can also be tailor-made based on the geographical presence of the borrower, MFI or any FIs.
• The MFIs or FIs would also be given the option to select the number of EMIs which might need insurance coverage.
