  • The china and US contain 819 and 571 names respectively.

3. India is the 12th largest overseas holder of US securities in 2017 with $147.4 billion

  • India remained the 12th largest overseas holder of US securities with $147.4 billion in December 2017.
  • These Figures are compiled by the US Treasury Department.
  • In December 2016, India hold was just $118.2 billion.
  • In 2017, China was the largest holder of US government securities with $1.18 trillion, followed by Japan at $1.06 trillion.

4. Odisha govt launched 'Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas' programme

  • The Odisha government launched a programme Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas (Our Village, our development) to reach out to the people in rural areas and involve themselves in the developmental activities.
  • Under the programme people through Wi-Fi enabled latest technology video wall vans can directly send their grievances to the Chief Minister’s Office.

5. Karnataka govt launched healthcare scheme 'Arogya Karnataka'

  • Karnataka government launched a healthcare scheme “Arogya Karnataka (Healthy Karnataka)” aimed at benefitting about 1.43 crore households in the state.
  • The scheme will provide quality primary, secondary and tertiary treatment to both BPL and APL families in the state.
  • Under the scheme, all below-poverty-line (BPL) households will get free treatment at government hospitals and for all above-poverty-line (APL) households, the state will bear about 30 percent of the treatment cost.

6. Manu Bhaker won the gold medal at ISSF World Cup

  • India's Manu Bhaker won the gold medal in 10 metre Air Pistol Women event at the ISSF World Cup.
  • It was held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
  • The Silver medal bagged by Alejandra Zavala Vazquez of Mexico bagged Silver and Bronze medal by Celine Goberville of France.
ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) World Cup
  • It was introduced in 1986 to provide a homogeneous system for qualification to the Olympic shooting competitions by the International Shooting Sports Federation.

7. India’s Shahzar Rizvi made a world record in 10-meter air pistol event in ISSF World cup

  • Shahzar Rizvi won the gold medal in his maiden ISSF World Cup appearance.
  • He belongs to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
  • He shot a world record 242.3 in the 10- metre air pistol event's final.
  • He defeated Olympic champion Christian Reitz of Germany in the final.

8. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan became the youngest captain in international cricket

  • Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan became the youngest captain in the history of international cricket.
  • He led Afghanistan against Scotland in their opening match of the ICC World Cup qualifiers which was played at Bulawayo in Zimbabwe on 4th March 2018.
  • His age is 19 years and 165 days.
  • The previous record was held by Rajin Saleh of Bangladesh which was 20 years and 297 days.
  • Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the youngest Indian to lead an ODI team in the age of 23 years and 126 days.

9. Odia Bhajan singer Arabinda Muduli passed away

  • Odia Bhajan singer Arabinda Muduli passed following a cardiac arrest.
  • He was a devotee of Lord Jagannath and sang only Bhajans.
  • He was a disciple of legendary bhajan singer Bhikari Bal.
  • He is remembered for his hit bhajans like “Kala Saante Acha Kemante” and “Jaga Pain Niti Mali Phula”.

10. Veteran Litterateur, historian Prafulla Das passes away

  • Veteran Litterateur, historian and freedom fighter Prafulla Das passed away at his native village Rajkanika, Odisha.
  • He was awarded prestigious Sarala Samman for his book “Bahniman “.
  • The book “Bahniman” was written on the life of famous freedom fighter Smt. Malati Choudhury.
  • He also wrote a number of books on the history of India’s freedom struggle and the role of Odisha.
