Top Moments of Oscar Winning Movies 2018

⇒ Oscars 2018 was hosted by one of the top comedian/TV hosts of all time – “Jimmy Kimmel”. The biggest night in the film had one of the most unpredictable best picture races in years, but top acting prizes all went with the favorites. The Shape Of Water triumphed at the Oscars, winning four prizes including best picture.

⇒ Actresses-turned-activists Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd brought the #MeToo movement to the Oscars, while Lupita Nyong’o and Kumail Nanjiani used the show to voice their support for immigrants.
⇒ “Remember Me,” from the animated film “Coco,” won the Oscar for the best original song. It was performed live onstage, pictured, earlier in the night by Miguel and Natalia Lafourcade.
⇒ Jordan Peele, pictured, accepted the award for the best original screenplay for his film, “Get Out,” which almost didn’t get made.
“I thought no one would ever make this movie,” Peele confessed during his acceptance speech.
⇒ Presenters Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph took off their high heels and engaged in hilarious banter, posing the question: Are the Oscars “too black” now?
⇒ Getting Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway to present the award for Best Picture AGAIN!
Even though it was not their fault, the screen legends were ridiculed last year for announcing the wrong winner. This was the best way for them to redeem themselves and it was nice to see that they could poke fun at themselves.

⇒ Oscars can go on a bit, so Kimmel had a plan: offer out a jet-ski to the shortest speech on the night, modeled by Helen Mirren. It ended up going to Phantom Thread‘s costume designer Mark Bridges for his brief 36-second speech.

Oscar Winning Movies 2018 – Best Quotes from the Gala Night!

“I’ve got some things to say”

Frances McDormand gave the most impassioned speech of the night. “If I fall over during my speech,” she began, “someone should pick me up because I’ve got some things to say.”

“Put the kettle on. I’m bringing Oscar home”

Gary Oldman paid tribute to his 98-year-old mother in his acceptance speech for best actor, telling her: “Thank you for your love and your support. Put the kettle on. I’m bringing Oscar home.”

“These four men and Greta Gerwig”

Greta Gerwig was one of the few women ever to be nominated as best director – an award only one woman has ever won in Oscars history. And so Emma Stone very pointedly introduced the nominees as “These four men and Greta Gerwig”.

“Don’t say La La Land. Don’t say La La Land”

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill alluded to last year’s monumental award mistake by muttering to himself “Don’t say La La Land. Don’t say La La Land” while opening the envelope to announce an award. Host Kimmel had also joked about last year’s chaos in his opening monologue.
