OICL AO Mains Over-all Exam Analysis

OICL AO (Generalist) Mains 2017 exam had 4 sections in the objective test of 200 marks - Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Reasoning and General Awareness for a composite duration of 120 minutes.
Overall the exam was an Easy to Moderate Level

OICL AO Mains Exam AnalysisQuantitative Aptitude 

This section had 50 questions for 50 marks. The level of Quantitative Aptitude was Moderate Following were the types of DI:
  • 3 sets of Data Interpretation questions were asked. 
    • (a) One was a caselet DI, based on 3 companies and 3 months data. 
    • (b) One tabular DI
    • (c) One mixed DI consisting of a Pie chart and a table. 
  • Questions from Simplification/ Approximation were also asked. 
  • Remaining questions of this section were asked from various arithmetic topics like Simple & Compound Interest, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Partnerships, Probability, Profit & Loss, Percentages, Time Speed and Distance etc. 
  • The questions of Data Sufficiency were also difficult to approach in limited time as they were from advanced maths.

This section had 50 questions for 50 marks. The level of English Language section was moderate. Questions were asked from Reading Comprehension, which included 4 questions from Synonyms/ Antonyms as well.
  • Reading Comprehension was included 04 questions from Synonyms/ Antonyms as well. The passage was based on Insurance in India. 
  • Error based question in which part of a sentence was wrongly spelt or was inappropriate and one had to identify it. 
  • Error questions in which 5 sentences were given in the options and one had to identify the correct or incorrect statement

OICL AO Mains Exam AnalysisREASONING

The level of reasoning was Easy to Moderate. Puzzles and Seating Arrangement sets were moderate level. Following were the types questions were asked:
  • There were 4 sets of Puzzles and Seating Arrangement Questions. 
    • (a) One was a Circular arrangement with 4 people facing inside, who were watching animals and 4 people facing outside, who were watching birds. 
    • (b) Another one was a linear arrangement in which people were sitting in a row and the number of people was not specified. 
    • (c) Scheduling based puzzle of Monday to Sunday, with 3 fruits as an additional parameter. 
    • (d) Age-based puzzle
  • Questions asked from Syllogism were mostly possibility based. 
  • Data Sufficiency was also asked with questions containing 2 statements from different topics like Ranking, Weight-based etc. 
  • There were many questions from Logical Reasoning as well.

OICL AO Mains Exam Analysis: GENERAL AWARENESS

50 Questions were asked from the General Awareness section. The overall level of GA section was Easy to Moderate.
  • There were also few questions from basic banking awareness and the questions asked from static were based on those cities which were recently in news. 
  • The current affairs questions were mainly from the news and events of October and November Month.
  • Most of the questions asked were Insurance and Current Affairs based. 

          OICL AO Mains Descriptive Test

          02 Questions were asked in the descriptive test of OICL AO Mains exam, a letter and an essay. 

          Essay Writing Topics:

          1. Mutual Funds SIP Vs Whole life insurance for a child's future. 

          Letter Writing Topics:

          1. Letter requesting the change of name after marriage. 
          2. Letter to a bank manager inviting him to your company to give an introduction about Insurance and convince employees to buy it.
