ISSF World Cup: Ankur Mittal wins double trap gold in
double trap event
Indian shooter Ankur Mittal (24-year) clinched his first men's double trap event at the International Shooting Sport
Federation (ISSF)
World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico.
He defeated his Australian
rival, James
Willet.
Mittal shot the score of 75 out of possible 80 points in the six-man final to
finish ahead of Willet (73 points).
Ying Qui (China) settled for the bronze medal with an overall score of 52
before being eliminated after 60 targets in the finals.
Earlier, Ankur had won silver in the same
event at last month's World Cup in New Delhi.
The Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI)
has doubled the Annual Retainer ship fee of India's 32 centrally contracted cricketers.
The Match Fee has also been increased for
the players and effective from October last year.
Grade-A cricketers (Seven) are skipper Virat Kohli, former captain MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja and Murali Vijay, will be paid two crore rupees
annually.
Grade-B players (Nine) including Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Lokesh Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha will be paid Rs. one crore per annum.
Grade-C players (Sixteen) including Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, and Ashish Nehra, will be paid Rs. 50 lakh annually.
Note: They will be paid 15 lakh rupees per Test, 6 lakh rupees per ODI and 3 lakh rupees per Twenty-20 match.
Austria: India bags 18 medals in Olympics World
Winter Games
India’s special athletes have won 18 medals so far in the ongoing 2017
Olympics World Winter Games in Austria.
The medal tally includes six gold,
four silver, and eight bronze.
The team of 89 differently-abled
sports person of the Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) is participating
in the competition.
Over 2,600 athletes from 105
nations are taking part in the event.
Indian para-athletes win 8 medals in IPC
Athletics Grand Prix
Indian Para-athletes bagged eight medals (3 gold,
1 silver, and 4 bronze) in the 9th Fazaa International IPC Athletics Grand
Prix in Dubai.
India is currently at the seventh
spot out of 48 participating countries.
Sundar Singh Gurjar (21-year) won a gold each in
men's Javelin Throw F-46 and Discus Throw F-46 competitions.
The third Indian gold was bagged by Narender Ranbir in men's Javelin Throw F-44
with an effort of 47.75m.

Gujarat Assembly passes bill for
the establishment of 4 private & 2 govt. universities
The Gujarat state Assembly has passed bills for the
establishment of four private and two government-run
universities in the state.
Four new private universities are Swarnim Startup and Innovation
University(Gandhinagar), P P Savani University (Surat), Indrashil University (Ahmedabad) and Karnavati University (Gandhinagar).
Two new private universities are Birsa Munda Tribal Universityat Rajpipla in Narmada district and
the Gujarat
Organic Agricultural University.
Assam govt & SBI sign MoU over
housing, educational loan at subsidized interest rates
The Assam govt has signed a MoU with State Bank of India (SBI) to provide Housing and
Educational loan at subsidized interest rates to the employees of the state government.
The state Government will provide
interest subsidy at the rate of 3.50% for the housing loan and
education loan at 4%.
Maximum limit of Housing Loan is
Rs. 15 lakh and the High education loan is Rs. 10 lakh.
There are provisions for
the collateral free loan, Zero Margin, Zero Processing Fee with
longer repayment tenure.
Fateh Bahadur appointed as Protem Speaker of UP
UP Governor Ram Naik has appointed three-time BJP
MLA Fateh
Bahadur as
the ‘Protem
Speaker’ of
the newly-constituted Assembly to administer the oath to newly elected
MLAs in Uttar Pradesh.
He also nominated four MLAs Durga Prasad Yadav (Samajwadi party), Ram Pal Verma& Fagu Chauhan (BJP) and Ramveer Upadhyaya(BSP) to assist the Protem Speaker.
The Governor will administer the
oath to the Protem
Speaker and
the four nominated members on Monday at Raj Bhavan.
Pakistan court orders separate counting of
Sikhs in census
Pakistan court (Peshawar High
Court) has ordered authorities to ensure separate counting of Sikhs in the
nationwide census.
Earlier, Sikh community members
filed a plea for not being counted among the religions included in the
first national headcount in 19 years.
The first phase of the 6th census
which started on 15th March
had clubbed Sikhs with the Scheduled Castes of the country while
separately counting the Muslims, Hindus, Christians and some other groups.
India ranks 131 on Human Development Index
(HDI)
India has ranked 131 out of 188 countries in the 2016 Human Development
Report (HDR) in the latest released report of the United Nations
Development Progamme (UNDP).
Earlier, India’s HDI rank value in 2015 stood at 0.624, which
had increased from 0.580 in 2010.
The list is topped by Norway (HDI
of 0.949), 2nd Australia (HDI of 0.939) and
3rd Switzerland (HDI of 0.939).
In South Asia, countries that are
close to India in HDI rank with a comparable population size are
Bangladesh (139th) and Pakistan(147th).
Note: The HDI value is a measure for
assessing the progress in the three basic dimensions of human development,
a long and healthy life, access to knowledge and the access to a decent
standard of living
