1. (a) Gary Oldman
Gary Oldman won the Oscar award for ‘Best Actor’ for his performance as Winston Churchill in the Second World War drama Darkest Hour. The actor, who had been considered the strong favourite in the category, overcame competition from fellow British nominees Daniel Kaluuya and Daniel Day-Lewis to take home the prize.

2. (a) Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives
The International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated every year on March 8 to highlight the achievements of women. The 2018 theme is “Time Is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”. 

3. (b) Balkrishna Doshi
Noted Indian architect & urban planner Balkrishna Doshi won the prestigious 2018 Pritzker Architecture Prize for being able to interpret architecture and transform it into buildings that respect Eastern culture. He is the first Indian architect to be awarded the prize.

4. (d) Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani leads Indians in Forbes' Billionaires List with net worth of USD 40.1 billion. He secured 19th global rank on the list of 2208 billionaires worldwide. In 2017, he ranked 33 with USD 23.2 billion wealth.

The International Women's Day 2018 was observed across the world on March 8, 2018 with an aim to empower women in all settings, be it rural and urban, and celebrate the activists who are working constantly to assert women’s rights and realize their full potential.

The United Nations children's agency (UNICEF) stated on March 6, 2018 that India has seen a sharp decline in child marriages over the last ten years with only 27 per cent of girls getting married before 18 years in comparison to 47 per cent a decade back.

7. (a) Foreign Banks
The RBI has tightened the priority sector lending (PSL) norms for foreign banks by directing them to mandatorily create sub-targets so that they lend a portion of their loans to small and marginal farmers as well as micro enterprises from April 2018. The move is directed at foreign banks with over 20 branches.

8. (b) Conrad Sangma
Conrad Sangma, the President of National People's Party (NPP), was on March 6, 2018 sworn-in as the 12th Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Sangma is the youngest son of former Lok Sabha Speaker late PA Sangma.

9. (c) Delhi 
The Acing Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice Gita Mittal will be conferred the ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar 2017’ by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Mittal is the first woman from the field of law and justice to be conferred the prestigious award. 

10. (a) Neiphiu Rio
Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leader Neiphiu Rio was sworn in as the chief minister of Nagaland on March 8, 2018. Rio has served as the state's CM three times before this, between 2003 and 2014.
