You can go through some important topics for SBI PO Mains Exam 2017 based on previous year’s exam to improve your preparation. These SBI PO mains important topics will help you identify the topics that you should focus more on in the exam as well as in these remaining days before exam.

SBI PO Mains exam will be conducted on 4th June 2017. With just numbered days now left for this exam, make sure that you are well aware with the important topics that might be asked this year in SBI PO Mains Exam.

Before we start with the section wise important topics, make sure that you understand the exam pattern as well as syllabus of SBI PO Mains properly.

Important Topics for SBI PO Mains Exam 2017

Let us now have a look at the individual sections as well as their important topics for exam.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

There are 35 questions asked in this section and they carry a total of 60 marks. You will be given 45 minutes to attempt this section. Last year following questions were asked from this section, so focus more on these.
  • As the name suggests, major portion of this section comprises of questions from Data interpretation.
  • There were 2 sets from mixed DI. This involved 1 double pie and 1 double line graphs. Overall level of these questions was difficult.
  • There was 1 set (5 questions) asked from Missing Data Interpretation, which was moderate-difficult to attempt.
  • There was 1 bar graph question set. The overall level of this question was difficult.
  • 5 Questions were asked from Data Sufficiency, which were again Moderate - difficult to attempt.
  • There were 3 questions from probability and 2 from time and work. These were the only topics asked from Arithmetic section and the level of questions was moderate.
  • Last year, a new inequality based question was introduced, where you had to evaluate the value of 2 separate quantities that were given in question and then establish the relation between the 2 as per question requirement.
As per the analysis of last year, focus more on Mixed chart based questions, Data Sufficiency and common arithmetic topics (especially probability). Apart from that, you may also come across single questions from tabulation/ bar/ missing/ caselet DI. Remember, the overall level of the questions is expected to be difficult and the questions will be calculative. So, prepare accordingly.

Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude

This section would comprise of 45 questions with a total of 60 marks and you will be given 60 minutes to attempt this section. Following questions were asked from this section last year.
  • 1 set (5 questions) were asked from Puzzle. Puzzle was based on scheduling with 2 additional parameters and the overall level was difficult.
  • There was another question from a linear arrangement. The level of this question was Moderate to Difficult.
  • 5 questions were asked from Input Output. The question was based on double shifting.
  • 5 questions were asked from Number Coding. 3 numbers were given in 2 separate rows with one number missing from any one of them. One had to calculate the resultant based on the conditions provided in the statement and answer as per question requirement. These questions were comparatively easy to attempt.
  • There were 5 questions asked from coded inequality. The overall level of these questions was easy to moderate.
  • 10 questions were asked from Verbal/ Logical reasoning. Overall level of these questions was Moderate to Difficult.
  • 5 Questions were asked from Data Sufficiency. These questions like inequality ranged from Easy to moderate level.
  • 1 set (5 questions) were asked from a flowchart based question of Computer Aptitude. The level of this question was moderate.
As per the questions asked last year, focus more on Verbal reasoning, Data Sufficiency, flowchart based problems, Inequality and Number Coding. You can also expect questions based on new pattern of Syllogism or coding-decoding.

English Language

35 questions will be asked from this section and you will have 40 minutes to attempt this section. This section will be asked for a total of 40 marks.
  • There were major changes in English language last year.
  • There were 2 sets of Reading Comprehension asked last year. Both the RC were Economy/ Banking based. Vocabulary based questions were not asked along with RC last year.
  • There were 5-7 questions asked from Synonyms/ Antonyms separately. So unless, one had a decent vocabulary, answering these questions was difficult because of lack of any related context.
  • 5 questions were asked from Paragraph completion. An entire sentence was missing from a given paragraph and one had to identify the sentence which would most appropriately fit the missing blank from the given options. Level of these questions was Moderate to Difficult.
  • Another 5 questions were asked from Sentence Connectors. This was a new topic introduced last year, where you had to identify the suitable option, which could be used as a started for the 2 sentences given in question. These questions were difficult to attempt.
  • There were 5 questions asked from irrelevant statement (theme based problems). Here, 5 statements were provided in options and one had to pick out the odd one out statement, which did not follow the common context of other 4 statements. These questions again were moderate to difficult.
As per the questions asked last year, be prepared for new surprises in this section. Have a thorough practice of new topics, like sentence connectors, para completion, irrelevant statements and comprehension.

General Awareness

  • Maximum Questions in this section are expected to be based on Economy/ Banking Awareness as well as current affairs. 
  • We have already shared important questions of banking awareness as well as GK Current Affairs. Make sure that you go through these posts to prepare the above mentioned topics properly. 
  • Apart from these, you can also expect 4-5 questions from static general awareness. You can go through our static gk for this part. 
  • Make sure that you prepare this section thoroughly, because if prepared well, general awareness section can prove to be highest scoring segment for you.
