The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) released a notification regarding the conduction of the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Combined Competitive Exam (HPAS CCE 2020). Candidates who are interested in taking part in HPPSC recruitment 2021 can register for the same on the official website of the Commission. HPAS 2020 Exam Eligibility Criteria

  1. A candidate must be a citizen of India.
  2. Minimum Educational Qualifications.
  3. A candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  4. A candidate, who has appeared at an examination the passing of which would render him eligible to appear at this examination but has not been informed of the result, may apply for admission to the examination. A candidate, who intends to appear at such a qualifying examination, may also apply, provided the qualifying examination is completed before the commencement of this examination. Such candidates will be admitted to the examination, if otherwise eligible, but the admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation if they do not produce proof of having passed the examination as soon as passed and in any case not later than two months after the commencement of this examination.
  5. Candidates who have passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination equivalent thereto, but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications for the HAS, etc. examination will be provisionally admitted to the examination provided they submit along with their applications a copy of the certificate from the University/ Institutions that they had passed the requisite final professional medical examination. In such cases, the candidates will be required to produce at the time of their Personality Test original degree or a certificate from the concerned competent authority of the University / Institution that they had completed all requirements (including completion of internship) for the award of degree.

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) conducts the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HPAS) exam every year to recruit candidates for the most coveted administrative services of the state. The HPAS exam is conducted offline in the following three stages

  1. HPAS Preliminary Exam
  2. HPAS Main (written) Exam
  3. HPAS Interview/Viva-voce

All three stages are important and essential to pass to appear in the next phase. The candidate should prepare for the HPAS exam as per the defined HPPSC syllabus and the pattern as defined in the separate HPPSC HPAS notification.

HPAS 2020 Exam Pattern–Preliminary Exam

The HPAS preliminary exam is the first stage of the HPPSC HPAS exam. The HPAS prelims exam serves as the screening exam only and acts as a filter for the main exam. The HPAS exam comprises two objective type multiple answer papers conducted offline at various centers across the state. The marks secured in the HPAS prelims exam are not considered for the final HPAS result.

The time duration for both the papers is two hours. The candidates need to score more than or equal to the HPAS cut-off marks as decided by the HPPSC after the exam.

HPAS 2020 Exam Pattern – Main Exam

The HPAS main exam is the critical stage of the HPAS exam because the marks secured in the main exam are considered for the final result. The HPAS main exam is a descriptive exam conducted offline in pen and paper mode. The structure of the HPAS Main exam is as follows

All paper shall be of three hours only. The standard and the questions asked in the English and Hindi paper will be of 10+2 level. It is necessary to secure 40% marks in the English and Hindi compulsory papers. Credit will be given for good English/Hindi including orderly, effective and exact expression combined with the economy of words, in all subjects of the examination.

HPAS Exam Pattern – Viva-voce

The HPAS Viva-voce is the last stage of the HPAS exam. The viva-voce carries 150 marks. The candidates are expected to know the local folklores of Himachal Pradesh. The local languages, the Himachal-centric problems, the socio-economic fabric of the state, the tribes of the state, and the likes. The final merit will be prepared from the marks secured in the main (written) and the viva-voce. The final merit will be prepared from the 1050 marks.

Candidates will be allotted various services/posts keeping in view their ranks in the examination and the preference expressed by them for the various services and posts.

Eligibility Criteria for HPAS Exam 2021

  • Age limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 35 years on January 1, 2021. 
  • Five years relaxation in upper age limit only to the bonafide SC/ST/OBC/WFF/PWD of Himachal Pradesh.

Educational qualification for HPAS 2021 Exam: 

  • A candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University

Exam Procedure & Exam Pattern  for HPAS 2021 Exam

  • HPPSC will conduct the HP Administrative Service Combined Competitive Exam, 2020 at 12 cities across the state. Initially, a Preliminary examination consisting of two papers based on objective type (multiple choices) questions will be held. The candidates declared qualified in the Preliminary examination will be admitted for Main Examination. The shortlisted candidates will then appear for the interview round.

Application fees for HPAS 2021 Exam

An examination fee of Rs 400 will be charged online. Reserved category candidates will have to pay Rs 100.
