रूस ने आर्कटिक में पहले मिशन पर अंतरिक्ष उपग्रह Arktika-M लॉन्च किया

• आर्कटिक पिछले तीन दशकों में वैश्विक औसत के मुकाबले दोगुने से अधिक गर्म हो गया है और मॉस्को ऊर्जा-समृद्ध क्षेत्र विकसित करने की मांग कर रहा है, जो कि बर्फ के पिघलने के रूप में अपने लंबे उत्तरी फ्लैंक में शिपिंग के लिए उत्तरी सागर मार्ग में निवेश कर रहा है।
• रूस के रोस्कोसमोस अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी के प्रमुख दिमित्री रोगोजिन ने सोयुज रॉकेट, कजाकिस्तान के बैकोनूर कोस्मोड्रोम से लॉन्च होने के बाद उपग्रह - अरक्तिका-एम - सफलतापूर्वक अपनी इच्छित कक्षा में पहुंच गया, ट्विटर पर एक पोस्ट में कहा।
• अर्टिका-एम में एक अत्यधिक अण्डाकार कक्षा होगी जो उत्तरी अक्षांशों पर उच्च से गुज़रती है जिससे यह लंबे समय तक उत्तरी क्षेत्रों की निगरानी कर सकेगी।

IAF ने 1971 के युद्ध हेलीकॉप्टर को बांग्लादेश को उपहार में दिया

• 1971 के युद्ध में पाकिस्तान को हराने के 50 साल पूरे होने के अवसर पर, भारतीय वायु सेना (IAF) के प्रमुख आरकेएस भदौरिया ने बांग्लादेश वायु सेना (BAF) को एक विरासत Alouette III हेलीकॉप्टर उपहार में दिया और ढाका से रिटर्न गिफ्ट के रूप में एक विरासत F-86 विमान उड़ान भरी।

भारत ने हिंद महासागर पर नजर रखने के लिए सिंधु नेत्रा उपग्रह को तैनात किया

• हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र में देश की निगरानी क्षमताओं के लिए एक प्रमुख बढ़ावा देने के लिए, भारत ने रविवार को अंतरिक्ष में सिंधु नेत्रा उपग्रह को सफलतापूर्वक तैनात किया जो नौसेना और सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को वहां सक्रिय संदिग्ध जहाजों की निगरानी करने में मदद करेगा।
• “सिंधु नेत्रा डीआरडीओ द्वारा विकसित किया गया है और रविवार को इसरो रॉकेट द्वारा सफलतापूर्वक अंतरिक्ष में तैनात किया गया है।
• सिंधु नेत्रा उपग्रहों की श्रृंखला में पहला है जो चीन के साथ लद्दाख क्षेत्र और पाकिस्तान के साथ सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में भूमि पर अपनी निगरानी क्षमताओं को बढ़ाने में देश की मदद करेगा।
• भारतीय क्षेत्र के साथ-साथ इसकी गहराई क्षेत्रों में सभी 4,000 किलोमीटर की वास्तविक नियंत्रण रेखा (LAC) के पास चीनी सेना की गतिविधियों पर कड़ी नज़र रखने की मांग करते हुए, भारतीय सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को लगता है कि चार की आवश्यकता है छह समर्पित उपग्रहों के लिए जो उनकी मदद कर सकता है विरोधी की चाल पर नजर रखने के लिए।

पीएम मोदी ने किया भारत के पहले इंडिया टॉय फेयर-2021 का उद्घाटन

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम से अपनी तरह के पहले इंडिया टॉय फेयर-2021 का उद्घाटन किया, साथ ही उन्होंने संबोधन में देश को खिलौना निर्माण क्षेत्र में आत्मनिर्भर बनने का आग्रह किया। कपड़ा मंत्रालय, शिक्षा मंत्रालय सहित अन्य मंत्रालयों के साथ मिलकर शिक्षण और सीखने के साथ-साथ स्वदेशी खिलौना उद्योग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए बच्चों को हर्षित सीखने प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से आभासी कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया है। टॉय फेयर को पाँच चरणों में विभाजित किया गया है - प्री-स्कूल से कक्षा II, प्राथमिक, उच्च प्राथमिक, माध्यमिक और वरिष्ठ माध्यमिक।
• डिया टॉय फेयर का जिक्र प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 30 अगस्त, 2020 को 'मन की बात' कार्यक्रम के संबोधन में किया था, जहाँ उन्होंने खिलौने के बाजार की विशाल संभावनाओं और स्वदेशी खिलौनों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए उपयोग किए जा सकने वाले अवसरों पर प्रकाश डाला।

• भारत की स्टार पहलवान विनेश फोगट ने 2017 के विश्व चैंपियन वी कालाडज़िंस्काया को हराकर उत्कृष्ट यूक्रेनी पहलवानों और कोच मेमोरियल टूर्नामेंट में स्वर्ण पदक जीता।
• विनेश ने 53 किग्रा के फ़ाइनल में 4-0 की बढ़त एक थ्रो के साथ खोली जिसे उन्होंने बाएँ पैर के हमले के साथ शुरू किया था लेकिन कलादज़िंस्काया ने अपने शानदार कदम से 4-4 से बढ़त बनाई।

अरुण कुमार सिंह ने बिहार के मुख्य सचिव के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला

• कुमार, 1984-बैच के अधिकारी है जो, 29 फरवरी, 2020 को सेवानिवृत्त होने वाले थे, लेकिन, केंद्र सरकार ने उन्हें राज्य सरकार की सिफारिश पर प्रत्येक को दो बार छह महीने के लिए दो बार एक्सटेंशन दिया था।
• कुमार ने 31 मई, 2018 से अंजनी कुमार सिंह की सेवानिवृत्ति के बाद बिहार के मुख्य सचिव के रूप में पदभार ग्रहण किया था, जो वर्तमान में मुख्यमंत्री (सीएम) नीतीश कुमार के सलाहकार हैं।

राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस: 28 फरवरी

• राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस (National Science Day) पूरे भारत में 28 फरवरी को मनाया जाता है। इस दिन, सर सीवी रमन ने रमन प्रभाव की खोज की घोषणा की थी, जिसके लिए उन्हें 1930 में नोबेल पुरस्कार दिया गया था। भारत सरकार ने 1986 में 28 फरवरी को राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस (NSD) के रूप में नामित किया था।
• इस वर्ष के लिए राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस का विषय 'फ्यूचर ऑफ एसटीआई: इम्पैक्ट ऑन एजुकेशन स्किल्स एंड वर्क (Future of STI: Impact on Education Skills and Work)' है। राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस 2021 का उद्देश्य छात्रों को विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में अनुभव प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रेरित करना है।
• डॉ. सीवी रमन एक प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक थे, जिन्होंने मद्रास के प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज से भौतिकी में स्नातक और स्नातकोत्तर किया था। उन्होंने सरकारी नौकरी के साथ-साथ कई विज्ञान प्रतियोगिताओं में भाग लिया. बाद में, उन्होंने भारत सरकार से छात्रवृत्ति प्राप्त की।

दुर्लभ रोग दिवस: 28 फरवरी, 2021

• दुर्लभ रोग दिवस प्रतिवर्ष फरवरी के अंतिम दिन मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष 2021 में यह 28 फरवरी, 2021 को मनाया गया है। यह दिन दुर्लभ बीमारियों के लिए जागरूकता बढ़ाने और दुर्लभ बीमारियों वाले व्यक्तियों और उनके परिवारों के लिए उपचार और चिकित्सा प्रतिनिधित्व तक पहुंच में सुधार करने के लिए मनाया जाता है।
• दुर्लभ रोग दिवस पहली बार यूरोपीय संगठन द्वारा दुर्लभ रोगों (EURORDIS) और इसकी परिषद के राष्ट्रीय गठबंधन के लिए 2008 में शुरू किया गया था।

भारत मे 27 फरवरी को दूसरा प्रोटीन दिवस मनाया गया

• भारत में, 27 फरवरी को राष्ट्रीय प्रोटीन दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है, ताकि प्रोटीन की कमी के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा की जा सके और लोगों को अपने भोजन में इस मैक्रोन्यूट्रिएंट को शामिल करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जा सके। इस दिवस को 27 फरवरी, 2020 को राष्ट्रीय स्तर की सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य पहल 'राइट टू प्रोटीन' द्वारा लॉन्च किया गया था। राष्ट्रीय प्रोटीन दिवस की इस वर्ष की थीम "पॉवरिंग विद प्लांट प्रोटीन" है।

भारतीय संगीत में सहयोग पर डीयू, सिंगापुर फाइन आर्ट्स सोसायटी ने समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए

• दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के संगीत और ललित कला संकाय और सिंगापुर ललित कला सोसाइटी (SIFAS) ने "भारतीय संगीत में सांस्कृतिक, शैक्षणिक और अनुसंधान सहयोग समझौते" के लिए समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
• 25 फरवरी और 26 फरवरी को दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के संगीत विभाग द्वारा आयोजित, दो दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वेबिनार, "विभिन्न संस्कृतियों में पारंपरिक संगीत: अवसर और चुनौतियाँ बदलते वैश्विक परिदृश्य" में हस्ताक्षर किए गए।

Russia launches space satellite Arktika-M on first mission to the Arctic

• The Arctic has warmed more than twice as fast as the global average over the past three decades and Moscow is seeking to develop the energy-rich region, investing in the Northern Sea Route for shipping across its long northern flank as ice melts.
• The satellite - Arktika-M - successfully reached its intended orbit after being launched from Kazakhstan's Baikonur cosmodrome by a Soyuz rocket, Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia's Roscosmos space agency, said in a post on Twitter.
• The Arktika-M will have a highly elliptical orbit that passes high over northern latitudes allowing it to monitor northern regions for lengthy periods.

IAF gifts 1971 war helicopter to Bangladesh, gets F-86 fighter

• Commemorating 50 years of defeating Pakistan in the 1971 war, Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief RKS Bhadauria gifted a legacy Alouette III helicopter to Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) and got a legacy F-86 Sabre aircraft as a return gift from Dhaka.
• "To mark the Golden Jubilee of 1971 War of Liberation, IAF chief RKS Bhadauria gifted a legacy Alouette III helicopter to the Bangladesh Air Force. Bangladesh Air Force chief too gifted an F-86 Sabre aircraft that had been restored by BAF after the 1971 war. Both legacy aircraft will find a place of pride in museums on both sides," IAF stated in a tweet.
• The exchange of aircraft took place in Dhaka during the four day trip of Bhadauria to Bangladesh where he visited different airbases and interacted with the top military leadership of that country.

India deploys Sindhu Netra satellite for keeping eye over Indian Ocean

• In a major boost for the country's surveillance capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region, India on Sunday successfully deployed the Sindhu Netra satellite in space which will help the Navy and security agencies to monitor suspicious ships operating there.
• “The Sindhu Netra has been developed by the DRDO and has been deployed in space successfully by the ISRO rocket launched on Sunday. The capability will allow us to keep an eye on the areas of our interest from the African region to South China Sea,” top government sources told India Today.
• Sindhu Netra is one of the first in the series of satellites that would help the nation in enhancing its surveillance capabilities on land in areas such as the Ladakh region with China and the border areas with Pakistan.
• Seeking to keep a closer eye on the activities of the Chinese military both near the Indian territory as well as in its depth areas all along the 4,000 kilometre Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Indian security agencies feel there is a requirement of four to six dedicated satellites which can help them keep a check on the adversary's moves.

PM Modi inaugurates first-ever India Toy Fair 2021

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the first-ever Indian Toy Fair 2021 via video conference during which he urged the country to become ‘Atmanirbhar’ in the toy manufacturing sector. The Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with other ministries, including the Ministry of Education, has organised the virtual event with an aim to provide joyful learning to children by including them in teaching and learning as well as promoting the indigenous toy industry. The toy fair is divided into five stages — pre-school to Class II, primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary.
• The idea of a toy fair emerged from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat address on August 30, 2020, where he highlighted the huge potential of the toys market and the opportunities that can be tapped to promote indigenous toys.
• Aimed at providing a platform to states to develop toys reflecting the history, culture and social milieu specific to the states and also to revive traditional and indigenous toys in the lives of children, the national toy fair claims to also boost the economy by supporting local toy industry under ‘Atamnirbhar Bharat’.

Vinesh Phogat beats Vanesa Kaladzinskaya to win gold in Ukraine wrestling event

• India's star wrestler Vinesh Phogat defeated 2017 world champion V Kaladzinskay to win the gold medal at the Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial tournament.
• Up against the world number seven Belarusian, it was not an easy bout for the world number three Indian as the two grapplers kept testing each other with consistent attacks in the sea-saw battle in which Vinesh prevailed.
• Vinesh opened up a 4-0 lead in the 53kg final with a throw which she initiated with a left-leg attack but Kaladzinskay made it 4-4 with her brilliant move.

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS

Arun Kumar Singh takes charge as Bihar chief secretary

• Kumar, a 1984-batch officer, was due to retire on February 29, 2020 but, the central government had granted him extension twice for two terms of six months each on the state government’s recommendation.
• Kumar had assumed charge as chief secretary of Bihar from May 31, 2018 following the retirement of Anjani Kumar Singh, who is currently the advisor to the chief minister(CM) Nitish Kumar.
• The state government had to appoint Arun Kumar Singh after the Centre, which beached the convention by granting six month extension for successive terms, declined giving fresh extension to Deepak Kumar.
• Kumar will join as principal secretary to the CM on contract, the post of which was created under the cabinet secretary department (CSD) in 2002, from March 1. As per the notification issued by the CSD, terms and condition of his appointment would be notified later.

National Science Day: 28 February

• National Science Day is celebrated all over India on 28th February. On this day, Sir CV Raman had announced the discovery of the Raman Effect for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. The government of India designated 28 February as National Science Day (NSD) in 1986.
• The theme for this year’s National Science Day is ‘Future of STI: Impact on Education Skills and Work’. The National Science Day 2021 aims to motivate the students to gain hands-on experience in the field of science.
• Dr CV Raman was a renowned scientist who had a bachelors’ and masters’ in Physics from the Presidency College in Madras. He took part in numerous science competitions along with the government job. Afterwards, he received a scholarship from the Indian government.

Rare Disease Day: February 28, 2021

• Rare Disease Day is observed every year on the last day of February. This year in 2021 it falls on February 28, 2021. The day is observed to raise awareness for rare diseases and improve access to treatment and medical representation for individuals with rare diseases and their families.
• Rare Disease Day was first launched by European Organisation for Rare Diseases (EURORDIS) and its Council of National Alliances in 2008.

 India observes Second Protein Day on 27 February

• In India, February 27th is celebrated as the National Protein Day, to create awareness about protein deficiency and encourage people to include this macronutrient in their diet. The day was launched by the ‘Right to Protein’, a national-level public health initiative on February 27, 2020. This year theme of National Protein Day is “Powering with Plant Protein”.
• 2021 marks the second year for this nutritional awareness milestone in India by ‘Right to Protein’.

DU, Singapore Fine Arts Society sign MoU on collaboration in Indian music

• The Delhi University's Faculty of Music and Fine Arts and the Singapore Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for "cultural, academic and research collaboration agreement in Indian music".
• The MoU was signed at a two-day international webinar, "Traditional Music in Different Cultures: Opportunities and Challenges in the Changing Global Scenario", hosted by the Delhi University's Department of Music on February 25 and 26.
• "The MoU will expand the cultural and institutional footprint of both the prestigious musical institutions with a rich historical background – SIFAS commencing its glorious music journey in 1949, and the Department of Music taking its first step towards musical excellence in 1960," an official statement.
• "The teachers and students of SIFAS will get an opportunity to perform at the University of Delhi, and vice versa,".
