ढाका में मनाया गया पतंग उत्सव Shakrain
इस अवसर पर, लोग जश्न मनाने के लिए डीजे पार्टी ’जैसे कई अन्य हालिया परिवर्धन के बीच पतंगबाजी और आतिशबाजी में लगे हुए हैं। पतंग उड़ाने की प्रतियोगिता में विंटर केक फेस्टिवल - पीथपुली होता है जिसमें लोगों द्वारा राइस केक का हलवा खाया जाता है।
यह बंगाली महीने पौष के अंतिम दिन मनाए जाने वाले बांग्लादेश के कई हिस्सों में सदियों पुरानी परंपरा है। पुराने ढाका शहर के लोगों में शाखरी बाजार, लक्ष्मीबाजार, बंगशाल और सुत्रपुर के लोगों ने इस त्योहार को बड़े हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया।
ढाका साउथ सिटी कॉरपोरेशन (DSCC) ने इस साल पहली बार लेट्स फ्लाईज़ ए पतंग, चेरिश ट्रेडिशन ’के नारे के साथ महोत्सव का आयोजन किया। डीएससीसी के सभी 75 वार्डों में मेयर बैरिस्टर शेख फजले नूर तपोश के साथ शहर में पतंग उड़ाकर उत्सव का उद्घाटन किया गया।
भारतीय-अमेरिकी गरिमा वर्मा फर्स्ट लेडी के कार्यालय में डिजिटल डायरेक्टर के तौर पर नामित
इनकमिंग फर्स्ट लेडी, जिल बिडेन ने भारतीय-अमेरिकी गरिमा वर्मा को अपने डिजिटल निदेशक और माइकल लॉरोसा के प्रेस सचिव के रूप में नामित किया है, बिडेन ट्रांजीशन टीम ने घोषणा की है। उन्होंने बिडेन-हैरिस अभियान में दर्शकों के विकास और सामग्री रणनीतिकार के रूप में कार्य किया। अभियान में शामिल होने से पहले, वर्मा पूरे देश में बिडेन-हैरिस के स्वयंसेवकों को वितरण के लिए कंटेंट टीम, डिजाइनिंग ग्राफ़िक्स के साथ एक स्वयंसेवक थी।
वर्मा, जिसका जन्म भारत में हुआ था, ओहियो और कैलिफ़ोर्निया की सेंट्रल वैली में बड़ी हुई। वह पहले एंटरटेनमेंट स्पेस, पैरामाउंट पिक्चर्स और टेलीविज़न शो द वॉल्ट डिज़नी कंपनी के एबीसी नेटवर्क और मीडिया एजेंसी होराइज़न मीडिया में मार्केटिंग फ़िल्मों में काम करती थी। वर्मा ने कई छोटे व्यवसाय और गैर-लाभकारी ग्राहकों के लिए विपणन, डिजाइन और डिजिटल में एक स्वतंत्र सलाहकार के रूप में भी काम किया है।

TEPC ने संदीप अग्रवाल को नया अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया
दूरसंचार उपकरण और सेवा निर्यात संवर्धन परिषद (TEPC) ने संदीप अग्रवाल को नया अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया है। दिल्ली स्थित पैरामाउंट कम्युनिकेशंस के प्रबंध निदेशक और प्रवर्तक अग्रवाल, पूर्व दूरसंचार सचिव श्यामल घोष से पदभार ग्रहण करेंगे।
टीईपीसी एक स्वतंत्र निकाय है जो सरकार द्वारा दूरसंचार उपकरण और सेवाओं के निर्यात को बढ़ावा देने और विकसित करने के लिए स्थापित किया गया है।
भारतीय-अमेरिकी विदुर शर्मा को बिडेन द्वारा कोविद परीक्षण सलाहकार के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया
जो बिडेन ने अपनी सी -19 रिस्पांस टीम में परीक्षण सलाहकार के रूप में भारतीय-अमेरिकी स्वास्थ्य नीति विशेषज्ञ विदुर शर्मा को नामित किया है, जैसे कि अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति-चुनाव ने घातक महामारी के प्रसार से निपटने के लिए देश भर में टीकाकरण तेज करने के लिए अपना महत्वाकांक्षी लक्ष्य रखा है।

IFFI: बिस्वजीत चटर्जी को 'भारतीय व्यक्तित्व वर्ष' से सम्मानित किया गया
भारत के 51 वें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव (IFFI) का उद्घाटन करते हुए, केंद्रीय सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्री, प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने एक नए 'भारतीय व्यक्तित्व वर्ष' पुरस्कार की घोषणा की, जिसकी घोषणा उन्होंने दिग्गज अभिनेता, निर्देशक और गायक बिस्वजीत चटर्जी के रूप मे की।
अपने संबोधन के दौरान, जावड़ेकर ने फिल्म उद्योग के साथ-साथ अन्य निजी कंपनियों को भी अपने अगले संस्करण से वार्षिक उत्सव में भाग लेने के लिए एक मजबूत पिच का निर्माण किया।

ICICI बैंक ने MSME को प्रीपेड कार्ड जारी करने के लिए फिनटेक नियो के साथ की साझेदारी
ICICI बैंक, एक प्रमुख भारतीय निजी क्षेत्र का बैंक और नियो, एक नए युग की फिनटेक कंपनी ने सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यम (MSME) श्रमिकों को प्रीपेड कार्ड जारी करने के लिए साझेदारी की घोषणा की। MSME अब अपने श्रमिकों के लिए वीज़ा द्वारा संचालित ‘ICICI बैंक नियो भारत पेरोल कार्ड’ प्राप्त करने में सक्षम होंगे।
इसके साथ, MSMEs अपने श्रमिकों के वेतन को कार्ड पर अपलोड कर सकते हैं, जिसे श्रमिक अपनी आवश्यकता के अनुसार उपयोग कर सकते हैं।
ये श्रमिक ज्यादातर अंडर-बैंक्ड हैं और बैंकिंग सुविधाओं से वंचित हैं।
'ICICI बैंक नियो भारत पेरोल कार्ड' एक व्यक्ति को कार्ड खाते में 1 लाख रुपये तक की धनराशि प्राप्त करने की अनुमति देता है. यह नियोक्ताओं को अत्याधुनिक वेतन संवितरण समाधान प्रदान करते हुए ब्लू-कॉलर कार्यबल को डिजिटल बैंकिंग की सुविधा और सुरक्षा प्रदान करता है।
कोई भी MSME प्रीपेड कार्ड का उपयोग करने के लिए नियो के साथ साझेदारी कर सकता है. साझेदारी के बाद, श्रमिकों को उनके कार्यस्थल पर ही कार्ड जारी किए गए जबकि उनका KYC सत्यापन बायोमेट्रिक डिवाइस का उपयोग करके साथ-साथ किया जाता है।
एक बार सक्रिय होने के बाद, श्रमिक कार्ड का एटीएम में धन निकालने, ई-कॉमर्स पोर्टल पर ऑनलाइन लेनदेन करने और प्वाइंट ऑफ सेल (PoS) मशीनों पर कार्ड स्वाइप करके उपयोग कर सकते हैं।
यस बैंक ने वेलनेस थीम्ड क्रेडिट कार्ड लॉन्च किया
यस बैंक ने ‘यस बैंक वेलनेस’ और ‘यस बैंक वेलनेस प्लस’ क्रेडिट कार्ड लॉन्च करने के लिए आदित्य बिड़ला वेलनेस प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के साथ साझेदारी की घोषणा की है - जिसका उद्देश्य समग्र रूप से स्वास्थ्य, स्व-सेवा और उपभोक्ताओं की वेलनेस है। यह स्व-सेवा, मानसिक और शारीरिक कल्याण को प्रोत्साहित करने और बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक पहल है।
उपभोक्ता अब आदित्य बिड़ला मल्टीप्लाइ ऐप पर पंजीकरण करके पूरक स्वास्थ्य लाभ के बूकै का आनंद ले सकते हैं।
लाभ में रिवार्ड पॉइंट, डाइट प्लान, परामर्श आदि शामिल हैं।
मोबाइल ऐप उपभोक्ताओं को वार्षिक स्वास्थ्य जांच, चौबीस घंटे डॉक्टर या काउंसलर हेल्पलाइन, इन-स्टूडियो या होम-बेस्ड वर्कआउट सेशन, व्यक्तिगत आहार योजना, दूसरों के बीच अपनी उंगलियों पर मानार्थ लाभ उठाने की अनुमति देता है।
इलेक्ट्रिक वैन के निर्माण के लिए कनाडा के प्लांट में C $ 1 बिलियन का निवेश करेगा : GM
जनरल मोटर्स के सह और श्रमिक संघ यूनिफोर ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि वे ऑटोमेकर के लिए एक अस्थायी सौदे तक पहुँच गए हैं, जो कि कैनेडा, ओंटारियो में अपने CAMI असेंबली प्लांट में लगभग C $ 1 बिलियन ($ 785.42 मिलियन) का निवेश करने के लिए वाणिज्यिक इलेक्ट्रिक वैन का निर्माण करते हैं।

Kite festival Shakrain celebrated in Dhaka
On this occasion, people engaged in kite flying and fireworks among many other recent additions like ‘DJ Party’ to celebrate this occasion. The kite flying competition is followed by the winter cake festival -- pithapuli in which rice cake pudding is eaten by people.
This is a centuries-old tradition in several parts of Bangladesh celebrated on the last day of the Bengali month of Paush. People in the old Dhaka city of Shakhari Bazar, Laxmibazar, Bangshal, and Sutrapur among others celebrated this festival with great joy.
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) organized the festival for the first time this year with the slogan ‘Let’s Fly a kite, Cherish Tradition’. The festival was held in all the 75 wards of DSCC with Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh inaugurating the festival by flying the kite in the city.
Indian-American Garima Verma named digital director in Office of the First Lady
Incoming First Lady, Jill Biden has named Indian-American Garima Verma as her digital director and Michael LaRosa press secretary, the Biden transition team has announced. She served as audience development and content strategist on the Biden-Harris campaign. Before joining the campaign, Verma was a volunteer with the content team, designing graphics for distribution to Biden-Harris volunteers across the country.
Verma, who was born in India, grew up in Ohio and the Central Valley of California. She previously worked in the entertainment space, marketing films at Paramount Pictures and television shows at The Walt Disney Company’s ABC Network, and media agency Horizon Media. Verma has also served as an independent consultant in marketing, design, and digital for several small business and non-profit clients.

TEPC appoints Sandeep Aggarwal as new Chairman
The Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) has appointed Sandeep Aggarwal as the new Chairman. Aggarwal, the Managing Director and Promoter of Delhi-based Paramount Communications, will take over from Shyamal Ghosh, ex-Telecom Secretary.
TEPC is an independent body set up by the government to promote and develop the export of telecom equipment and services.
Indian-American Vidur Sharma Appointed As Covid Testing Adviser By Biden
Joe Biden has named Indian-American health policy expert Vidur Sharma as testing advisor in his C-19 Response Team, as the US President-elect laid out his ambitious goal to intensify vaccinations across the country to tackle the spread of the deadly pandemic.
The announcement of Sharma's appointment as Policy Advisor for Testing was made by Biden on Friday along with additional members of the White House C-19 Response Team.
During the Obama administration, Sharma served as a health policy advisor on the Domestic Policy Council.

IFFI: Biswajit Chatterjee awarded ‘Indian Personality of the Year’
Inaugurating the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here on Saturday, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, announced a new ‘Indian Personality of the Year’ award, which he announced was being conferred upon the veteran actor, director, and singer Biswajit Chatterjee.
During his address, Javadekar also made a strong pitch for the film industry as well as other private companies to start participating in the annual festival from its next edition.

ICICI Bank ties up with fintech Niyo to issue prepaid cards to MSMEs
ICICI Bank, a leading Indian private sector bank, and Niyo, a new age fintech company announced a tie-up to issue prepaid cards to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) workers. MSMEs will now be able to get ‘ICICI Bank Niyo Bharat Payroll Card’ powered by Visa, for their blue-collar workers.
With this, MSMEs can upload the salaries of their workers on the card, which the workers can then utilize as per their need seamlessly.
These workers are mostly under-banked and are deprived of banking facilities.
The ‘ICICI Bank Niyo Bharat Payroll Card’ allows an individual to receive funds up to Rs 1 lakh into the card account. It offers convenience and safety of digital banking to the blue-collar workforce while providing a state-of-the-art salary disbursement solution to employers.
Any MSME can tie-up with Niyo to avail of the prepaid card. After the tie-up, cards are issued to the workers at their workplace itself while their KYC verification is done simultaneously using a biometric device.
Once activated, workers can use the card to withdraw funds at ATMs, make online transactions on e-commerce portals, and make payment by swiping the card at Point of Sale (PoS) machines.

GM to invest C$1 billion in Canada plant to manufacture electric vans
General Motors Co and labor union Unifor said on Friday they have reached a tentative deal for the automaker to invest nearly C$1 billion ($785.42 million) in its CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, to manufacture commercial electric vans.
Under the tentative deal, which is yet to be ratified by the union workers, GM has agreed to begin large-scale commercial production of EV600, an electric van, at its CAMI plant, Unifor said in a statement.
The Detroit automaker said in a separate statement that work would begin immediately at the plant.
