- यूके के प्रधान मंत्री बोरिस जॉनसन के मंत्रिमंडल में भारतीय मूल के मंत्रियों में से एक आलोक शर्मा ने सीओपी 26 के अध्यक्ष के रूप में एकमात्र कार्यभार संभाला।
- आगरा में जन्मे मंत्री, जो अब तक दोहरी भूमिकाओं के प्रभारी थे, पूरी तरह से इस बात पर ध्यान केंद्रित करेंगे कि यूके को अब तक की सबसे बड़ी शिखर बैठक के रूप में करार दिया गया है, जिसमें भारत सहित लगभग 200 देशों के प्रतिनिधि शामिल हैं।
तौडेरा फिर बने मध्य अफ्रीकी गणराज्य के राष्ट्रपति

- ब्लूमबर्ग बिलियनेयर्स इंडेक्स के अनुसार, Tesla के सीईओ एलन मस्क अमेजन के जेफ बेजोस को पीछे छोड़ दुनिया के सबसे अमीर व्यक्ति बन गए। एलोन मस्क की कुल संपति 188.5 बिलियन डॉलर से अधिक आंकी गई है।
- गुरुवार की सुबह टेस्ला (TSLA) के शेयरों में 6% की बढ़ोतरी ने अपने सीईओ की स्टॉक होल्डिंग और विकल्पों का मूल्य 10 बिलियन डॉलर तक बढ़ा दिया, जिससे उनकी नेटवर्थ लगभग 188.5 बिलियन डॉलर हो गई। उनके साथ ही 2% से कम की मामूली वृद्धि ने बेजोस के अमेज़ॅन (एएमजेडएन) के शेयरों को लगभग 3 बिलियन डॉलर तक बढ़ा दिया, जिससे उनकी नेटवर्थ 187 बिलियन डॉलर हो गई। ब्लूमबर्ग के अनुसार, बिल गेट्स अब 132 बिलियन डॉलर की कुल संपति के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर हैं।

पीएम मोदी 12 जनवरी को राष्ट्रीय युवा संसद समारोह को संबोधित करेंगे
- प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी 12 जनवरी को सुबह 10 बजे राष्ट्रीय युवा संसद समारोह 2021 को संबोधित करेंगे।
- मंत्रालय ने एक अन्य ट्वीट में कहा, "इस आयोजन को शिक्षा मंत्री रमेश पोखरियाल के ट्विटर / फेसबुक पेज पर लाइव किया जाएगा।"
- इससे पहले आज, प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने 16 वें प्रवासी भारतीय दिवस सम्मेलन में बात की।
ममता सरकार पश्चिम बंगाल में सिनेमा हॉल में 100% ऑक्यूपेंसी रहने की अनुमति दी
- पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने राज्य में सिनेमा हॉल में 100 प्रतिशत ऑक्यूपेंसी रहने की अनुमति दी है, लेकिन C -19 के मद्देनजर एहतियाती उपायों का पालन किया किया जाना भी अनिवार्य है।
- उन्होने शुक्रवार को वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम से कोलकाता अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव 2021 के 26 वें संस्करण के उद्घाटन के अवसर यह घोषणा की।
- महामारी के कारण, सिनेमा हॉलों में केवल 50 प्रतिशत ऑक्यूपेंसी की अनुमति है।
- अभिनेता शाहरुख खान ने भी इस कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया। कोलकाता फिल्म फेस्टिवल, जिसे वर्ष 1995 में शुरू किया गया था, को C-19 महामारी के मद्देनजर आयोजित किया जा रहा है।
J&K के उपराज्यपाल मनोज सिन्हा ने लॉन्च की 'सतर्क नागरिक' मोबाइल एप्लीकेशन
- जम्मू-कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल, मनोज सिन्हा ने J&K एंटी करप्शन ब्यूरो के मोबाइल एप्लीकेशन 'सतर्क नागरिक' और विभागीय सतर्कता अधिकारी पोर्टल को लॉन्च किया है। उपराज्यपाल ने कहा कि यूटी प्रशासन पारदर्शी, जवाबदेह और उत्तरदायी शासन सुनिश्चित करने के लिए व्यापक प्रयास कर रहा है।
मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन 'सतर्क नागरिक' के बारे में:
- लॉन्च किए गए नए मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन को भ्रष्टाचार के बारे में आसानी से जानकारी की सुविधा प्रदान करने और नागरिकों को आसानी और गतिशीलता के साथ अपनी शिकायतों भेजने में सक्षम बनाने के उद्देश्य से विकसित किया गया है।
- एंड्राइड डिवाइस रखने वाला कोई भी नागरिक प्ले स्टोर से इस एप्लिकेशन डाउनलोड कर सकता है।
- शिकायत के पंजीकरण के समय एक विशिष्ट आईडी नंबर आवंटित किया जाएगा जिसे बाद में शिकायत की स्थिति को ट्रैक करने के लिए इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है।
विभागीय सतर्कता अधिकारी पोर्टल के बारे में:
- विभागीय सतर्कता अधिकारियों (DVO) पोर्टल को विभिन्न विभागों के DVO के साथ ऑनलाइन कम्युनिकेशन चैनल सक्षम करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है।
- कुछ मामलों में, शिकायतें चल रहे कार्यों, वर्तमान भर्तियों और अनुबंधों के विरुद्ध किए जाने वाले भुगतानों से संबंधित हैं।
- डीवीओ को इन मामलों को संदर्भित करके, उल्लंघन/कमियों को तुरंत ठीक और राज्य के खजाने को नुकसान को रोका जा सकता है।
रमेश पोखरियाल ने वर्चुअल किया अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अखंड सम्मेलन ‘EDUCON - 2020’ का शुभारंभ
- केन्द्रीय शिक्षा मंत्री श्री रमेश पोखरियाल ‘निशंक’ ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से दो दिवसीय वर्चुअल अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अखंड सम्मेलन ‘EDUCON-2020’ का शुभारंभ किया। यह दो दिवसीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन ग्लोबल एजुकेशनल रिसर्च एसोसिएशन (GERA) के सहयोग से केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय पंजाब, बठिंडा (CUPB) द्वारा आयोजित किया जा रहा है। EDUCON-2020 का मुख्य विषय "Envisioning Education for Transforming Youth to Restore Global Peace यानि वैश्विक शांति को साकार करने को युवाओं में बदलाव के लिए शिक्षा की संकल्पना" है।
- यह सम्मेलन भारत में अपनी तरह का पहला आयोजन है जहां दुनिया भर के विद्वान लगातार 31 घंटे तक बिना रुके मैराथन संवाद सत्र करेंगे और भारत में समान गुणवत्ता वाली शिक्षा को बढ़ावा देने के लिए उच्च शिक्षा में आईसीटी के उपयोग की संभावनाओं की तलाश करेंगे।

जाने-माने भारतीय फैशन डिजाइनर सत्यपॉल का निधन
- समकालीन महिलाओं के लिए भारतीय साड़ी को नया रूप देने के लिए प्रसिद्ध, मशहूर फैशन डिजाइनर सत्या पॉल का निधन हो गया। सत्यपॉल ने 1980 में भारत में पहला साड़ी बुटीक L’Affaire शुरू किया था।
- 1986 में, उन्होंने ब्रांड सत्यपॉल के तहत भारत का पहला डिज़ाइनर लेबल लॉन्च किया, जो अब देश के प्रमुख ब्रांडों में से एक बन गया है।
नियुक्ति एवं इस्तीफे
अभिषेक यादव को नियुक्त किया गया AIFF का पहला उप महासचिव
- भारत के पूर्व स्ट्राइकर अभिषेक यादव को खेल निकाय द्वारा पदानुक्रम में एक नया पद बनाने के फैसले के बाद ऑल इंडिया फुटबॉल फेडरेशन (AIFF) को पहला उप महासचिव नियुक्त किया गया है। 40 वर्षीय पूर्व अंतर्राष्ट्रीय खिलाड़ी, जो भाईचुंग भूटिया, सुनील छेत्री, महेश गवली और क्लाइमेक्स लॉरेंस के साथ खेल चुके हैं, जनवरी 2018 से राष्ट्रीय टीम के निदेशक के रूप में काम कर रहे हैं।
- इसके अलावा यादव ने मुख्य कोच लुइस नॉर्टन डे मारोस के साथ मिलकर 2017 के U17 भारतीय विश्व कप टीम के मुख्य परिचालन अधिकारी (सीओओ) के रूप में भी काम किया है।

प्रवासी भारतीय दिवस: 9 जनवरी
- द्विवार्षिक रूप से 9 जनवरी को भारत के विकास में विदेशी भारतीय समुदाय के योगदान को चिह्नित करने के लिए प्रवासी भारतीय दिवस अथवा NRI डे के रूप में मनाया जाता है। इस दिन को मनाने का उद्देश्य एनआरआई को भारत के बारे में अपने विचार व्यक्त करने के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करना है और इस तरह उन्हें भारतीय विकास कार्यों में शामिल करना है। 16 वें प्रवासी भारतीय दिवस कन्वेंशन 2021 का विषय “Contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat” यानि "भारत को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने में योगदान देना" है।
- प्रवासी भारतीय दिवस 9 जनवरी के ही दिन 1915 में महात्मा गांधी के दक्षिण अफ्रीका से भारत आने की याद में मनाया जाता है। 2015 में, इस दिन को द्विवार्षिक घोषित किया गया था। 2018 में, यह दिन सिंगापुर में व्यापक रूप से मनाया गया। 2019 में, यह कार्यक्रम वाराणसी में मनाया गया था।
बैंकिंग और आर्थिक
बंधन बैंक ने सेना के जवानों के लिए लॉन्च किया शौर्य सैलरी अकाउंट
- निजी क्षेत्र के बैंक बंधन बैंक ने भारतीय सेना के साथ सेना कर्मियों को बैंकिंग सेवाएं प्रदान करने के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। बैंक इस सझेदाती के तहत सेना के जवानों के लिए शौर्य सैलरी अकाउंट की सेवा प्रदान करेगा। बंधन बैंक शौर्य सैलरी अकाउंट जीरो बैलेंस खाता होता यानि इसमें कोई भी मेन्टेन चार्ज नही लगेगा। इसके अलावा शौर्य सैलरी अकाउंट, कर्मियों और उनके परिवारों को भी सुरक्षा प्रदान करता है।
- उन्हें अन्य विशेष सेवाए मुहैया कराई जाएगी जैसे कि एक लाख रुपये से अधिक की शेष राशि पर छह प्रतिशत ब्याज, एटीएम में असीमित मुफ्त एटीएम लेनदेन, शौर्य वीजा प्लेटिनम डेबिट कार्ड पर लगने वाले वार्षिक शुल्क की छूट और असीमित मुफ्त NEFT/RTGS/IMPS/DD लेनदेन।
- इसमें खाताधारक की आकस्मिक मृत्यु होने पर 30 लाख रुपये का मुफ्त व्यक्तिगत दुर्घटना बीमा, 1 करोड़ रुपये का हवाई दुर्घटना कवर और एक आश्रित बच्चे को चार साल तक प्रति वर्ष 1 लाख रुपये का मुफ्त शैक्षिक भी लाभ शामिल है।

British Indian minister Alok Sharma given sole charge of UN climate summit
- Alok Sharma, one of the Indian-origin ministers in UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Cabinet, has relinquished his role as Business Secretary in a mini-reshuffle to take sole charge as President of COP26 – the United Nations climate summit scheduled for Glasgow, Scotland, in November.
- The Agra-born minister, who was until now in charge of dual roles, will focus entirely on what has been dubbed as the largest summit the UK has ever hosted, bringing together representatives from nearly 200 countries, including India.
Central African Republic president Touadera wins reelection
- Faustin-Archange Touadera was re-elected as the president of the Central African Republic with more than 53% votes. The 63-year-old president has been in power since 2016 but has struggled to seize control of vast parts of the nation from armed militias.
- The Central African Republic, a producer of gold and diamonds, has a population of 4.7 million.
Elon Musk overtakes Amazon's Jeff Bezos to become world's richest person
- According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Tesla CEO Elon Musk overtakes Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest person. Elon Musk had a net worth of more than $188.5 billion.
- A 6% rise in Tesla (TSLA) shares early Thursday lifted the value of its CEO's stock holdings and options by $10 billion, taking his net worth to about $188.5 billion. A more modest rise of less than 2% lifted Bezos' Amazon (AMZN) shares by about $3 billion, putting his net worth at $187 billion. Bill Gates is now a distant third at $132 billion, according to Bloomberg.

- "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the National Youth Parliament Festival 2021 on 12th January at 10 AM.
- "The event will be covered live on Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal's Twitter/Facebook pages," the ministry said in another tweet.
- Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi spoke at the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. During the event, Modi said that the country is ready to save humanity with two ''Made in India'' C-19 vaccines.
Mamata govt allows 100% occupancy in cinema halls in West Bengal
- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has allowed 100 per cent occupancy in cinema halls in the state but asserted following precautionary measures in the view of C-19.
- She was speaking at the inauguration of the 26th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival 2021 via video conference on Friday.
- "Due to the pandemic, only 50 per cent occupancy in cinema halls is allowed.
- Actor Shahrukh Khan also participated in the event virtually. The Kolkata Film Festival, which was started in the year 1995, is being organised virtually in the view of C-19 pandemic.
J&K LG, Manoj Sinha launches Mobile Application 'Satark Nagrik'
- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has launched Mobile Application ‘Satark Nagrik’ and Departmental Vigilance Officers Portal of J&K Anti Corruption Bureau. The Lt Governor observed that the UT Government is taking comprehensive measures for ensuring transparent, accountable, and responsive governance.
About Mobile Application ‘Satark Nagrik’
- The mobile application launched today has been developed with a purpose to facilitate seamless flow of information about corruption and enable citizens to submit their grievances with ease and mobility.
- Any citizen having an android based device can download the application from play store.
- A unique ID number will be allotted at the time of registration of grievance which later can be used to track the status of grievance.
About Departmental Vigilance Officers Portal:
- The Departmental Vigilance Officers (DVO) Portal has been designed to enable an online communication channel with the DVOs of various departments.
- In certain cases, the complaints are related to ongoing works, current recruitments, and payments yet to be made against contracts etc.
- By referring these matters to DVOs, violations/ shortcomings can immediately be rectified and loss to the state exchequer can be prevented.
Ramesh Pokhriyal inaugurates International Akhand Conference ‘EDUCON-2020’
- Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has inaugurated the two-day Virtual International Akhand Conference ‘EDUCON 2020’ through video conferencing. This two-day International Conference is being organized by the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) in collaboration with the Global Educational Research Association (GERA). The focal theme of EDUCON-2020 is Envisioning Education for Transforming Youth to Restore Global Peace.
- This conference is the first of its kind in India where scholars across the world would be continuously having a non-stop marathon dialogue sessions for 31 hours exploring the possibilities of the use of ICT in the higher education to promote the equitable quality education in India.
- Further, the conference will also provide a platform for discussions on emerging trends in education viz., likely scenario of higher education and school education by 2050, developing disruptive technologies for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Education, training youth for strategic future jobs in Universities, the skill training programme for future graduates and relevance of ancient education system in 21st century.

Veteran Indian Fashion Designer Satya Paul passes away
- Veteran Fashion designer Satya Paul, best known for reinventing the Indian saree for contemporary women, has passed away.
- Satya Paul launched the first saree boutique in India, L’Affaire, in 1980. In 1986, he launched India’s first designer label, under the brand ‘Satya Paul’, which has now become one of the premier brands in the country.

Abhishek Yadav appointed as AIFF’s first Deputy General Secretary
- Former India striker Abhishek Yadav has been appointed as the first deputy general secretary of All India Football Federation (AIFF) after the sports body decided to create a new post in its hierarchy. The 40-year-old former international, who has played with the likes of Bhaichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri, Mahesh Gawli and Climax Lawrence, has been serving as national team’s director since January 2018.
- Yadav has also served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the 2017 U17 Indian World Cup team, collaborating closely with Luis Norton de Maros, the head coach.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrated on 9 January
- Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or NRI Day is celebrated every year on January 9 to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community in the development of India. The day is celebrated every year to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community in the development of India. The aim of celebrating the day is to provide a platform for NRI to express their perceptions about India and thereby involve them in Indian developmental activities. The theme of 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention 2021 is “Contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.
- The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated on January 9, as Mahatma Gandhi returned from South Africa on the day in 1915. In 2015, the day was declared biennial. In 2018, the day was widely celebrated in Singapore. In 2019, the event was celebrated in Varanasi.

Bandhan Bank unveils account for army personnel
- Private lender Bandhan Bank has signed an agreement with the Indian Army to provide banking services to the personnel of the force. The bank got the mandate to maintain and a Bank Shaurya Salary Account of the Army personnel. Bandhan Bank Shaurya Salary Account will have a zero balance facility. The Shaurya Salary Account also offers protection for self and assets.
- They will be offered other preferential services such as six percent interest on balance over Rs one lakh, unlimited free ATM transactions across ATMs, waiver of issuance and annual charge on Shaurya Visa Platinum Debit Card and unlimited free NEFT/RTGS/IMPS/DD transactions.
- This includes free personal accident insurance of Rs 30 lakh, air accident cover of Rs 1 crore and free educational benefit of up to Rs 1 lakh per year for four years to a dependent child in case of accidental death of the account holder.
