1. First Khelo India University Games launched by PM Modi

  • PM Narendra Modi has declared open the first-ever Khelo India University Games in Odisha through video conferencing.
  • As many as 3400 athletes from 159 universities across the country have been given entries in 17 disciplines (archery, athletics, boxing, fencing, judo, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling, badminton, basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, rugby and kabaddi), including rugby which is among the six-team events.

2. India to switch to world's cleanest petrol, diesel from 1st April

  • India will switch to the world's cleanest petrol and diesel from 1st April as it leapfrogs straight to Euro-VI emission compliant fuels from Euro-IV grades now.
  • This has been achieved in just three years and not seen in any of the large economies around the globe.
  • India will join the select league of nations using petrol and diesel containing just 10 parts per million of sulphur as it looks to cut vehicular emissions.

3. Indian Railways Constructs Country’s Tallest Pier Bridge in Manipur

  • The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway Construction Organisation is constructing India’s tallest ever Pier Bridge in Manipur.
  • The 100-metre tall bridge is being constructed across river Makru in Tamenglong District of Manipur.
  • The total cost of the 555 metre-long bridge is approximately Rs.283.5 Crores.
  • The Bridge is a part of 111 km Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad gauge line project of Indian Railways.
  • The longest tunnel is Tunnel No. 12 with a length of 10.280 Km.

4. Country''s first floating jetty inaugurated in Goa

  • Union Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated the country's first floating jetty and an immigration facility in Goa.
  • This floating jetty is the first such facility in the country.
  • It will boost inland waterways.
  • They are environment-friendly and can be built in a short time. 
  • The immigration counter at the cruise terminal in Mormugao Port will help foreign nationals who arrive on cruise ships.

5. India, Sri Lanka sign MoU for up-gradation of infra in plantation school

India and Sri Lanka have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for up-gradation of infrastructure in plantation schools for estate workers of Indian origin.
The MoU was signed by acting High Commissioner Mr Vinod. K. Jacob and Secretary, Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka Mr NHM Chithrananda in Colombo.
The project is implemented to upgrade the infrastructure of 9 plantation schools under Indian grant assistance of Rs 30 crores.

10. RBI clears appointment of Sunil Gurbaxani as Dhanlaxmi Bank MD

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the appointment of Sunil Gurbaxani as managing director and CEO of Dhanlaxmi Bank.
  • Dhanlaxmi Bank was removed from the RBI PCA framework, subject to certain conditions and continuous monitoring, as the bank is found to be not breaching any of the risk thresholds of the framework.
  • The private sector lender had registered a net profit of Rs 16.90 crore during the corresponding period in previous fiscal.
