UPSC CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019

Age Criteria for UPSC CDS Recruitment 2019 


  • For IMA : Candidates born between 2nd January 1996 to 1st January 2001 are eligible.
    • Minimum Age- 17 Years
    • Maximum Age- 22 Years
  • For INA : Candidates born between 2nd January 1996 to 1st January 2001 are eligible.
    • Minimum Age- 17 Years
    • Maximum Age- 22 Years
  • For Air Force Academy : Candidates born between 2nd January 1996 to 1st January 2000 are eligible.
    • Minimum Age- 18 Years
    • Maximum Age- 22 Years
  • For OTA (for men): Candidates born between 2nd January 1995 to 1st January 2001 will be eligible.
    • Minimum Age- 17 Years
    • Maximum Age- 23 Years
  • For OTA (for women) : Candidates born between 2nd January 1995 to 1st January 2001 will be eligible.
    • Minimum Age- 17 Years
    • Maximum Age- 23 Years

Educational Qualification UPSC CDS Recruitment 2019 

  • For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy— Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
  • For Indian Naval Academy—Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.
  • For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
  • In exceptional cases the Commission may treat a candidate, who does not possess any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule as educationally qualified provided that he/she possesses qualifications, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission, justifies his/her admission to the examination.
Note:
  • Those who have yet to pass their degree examination will be eligible only if they are studying in the final year of degree examination.
  • Those who are debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admission.

Nationality UPSC CDS Recruitment 2019 

You must either be:
  • a Citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 01st January 1962 with the intention of permanently setting in India, or
  • a person of India origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India.

CDS Exam Pattern & Selection Process 2018

CDS Selection Process comprises of 2 stages:
  1. Written examination
  2. Interview for intelligence and Personality Test
(a) For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air
Force Academy —

Note:
  • The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only and the question papers of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be bilingual in Hindi and English.
  • There will be negative marking for every wrong answer marked by you.
