BANKING & ECONOMY
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) put state-run lender Dena Bank under prompt corrective action PCA) framework.
- With this, Dena Bank becomes the first lender to face curbs on lending under PCA framework.
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its Asia and Pacific Regional Economic Outlook report reaffirmed that India will be the fastest growing major economy in 2018, with growth rate of 7.4% in 2018 and 7.8% in 2019.
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) projected India to remain the fastest growing Asian nation with 7.3% growth in 2018-19 and 7.6% in 2019-20.
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) would buy Rs. 10,000 crore ($1.50 billion) of govt bonds via open market operation (OMO), after failing to sell all the debt it had offered to bidders earlier.
NATIONAL NEWS
- The Ministry of Tourism decided to expand Buddhist tourism circuit under Swadesh Darshan Scheme to 21 more states to make it India’s first trans-national tourist circuit.
- The 6th United States-India Aviation Summit, formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu, has been held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his Nepalese counterpart KP Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated direct bus service between Janakpur (Nepal) and Ayodhya (India) under Ramayana circuit.
- Atal Tinkering Marathon’s top 30 Innovations to be supported through industry partnerships were showcased on the eve of the National Technology Day (May 11).
- According to Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India’s installed clean (renewable) energy capacity touched 70 Gigawatts (GW) and 38 GW is under implementation.
- The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITY) launched the website of Digital India Internship Scheme.
- India hosts the 15th edition of the Asia Media Summit (AMS-2018) in New Delhi with the theme 'Telling our Stories- Asia and More'.
- Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) in its 2018 edition of Indian Pharmacopoeia approved modern, animal-free tests for drug manufacturers.
- The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued draft of Telecommunication Interconnection (Amendment) Regulations 2018 to amend interconnect regulations, proposing certain changes in terms and conditions for operators to seek fresh call connect ports from other telecom operators.
- The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) is planning to expand Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in tribal districts across the country.
- The 2018 International Children’s Theatre Festival will be held at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata, West Bengal from Jun 17 to 21.

- Telangana govt launched an investment support scheme, Rythu Bandhu (friend of farmers) Scheme to support livelihood of farmers.

- The third edition of United Nations Peacekeeping Course for African Partners (UNPCAP) has been held in New Delhi.
