How to Join NDA after 12th

Eligibility Criteria Needed to Join NDA:

  • Candidates those who want to join National Defence Academy after 12th class should belong to the age group of 16.5 to 19 years. They must have cleared 12th standard or equivalent exam with relevant subjects from any recognized board.
  • Aspirant’s height should be 157cm at minimum. Only unmarried male aspirants are allowed to join NDA. Applicants should be mentally and physically stable and should be free from any underweight, bodily defects and obese
Some Exceptions:
  • Aspirants other than Indian citizen are not allowed
  • Females are not eligible to join NDA

Nationality for NDA Exam:

  1. A candidate must be either:
  2. A citizen of India, or
  3. a subject of Nepal, or
  4. a subject of Bhutan, or
  5. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
  6. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

How to Join NDA after 12th?

Contenders who want to join NDA after 12th studies need to qualify the entrance test. The test is conducted by UPSC and questions related to Mathematics and General Aptitude section will be asked in the entrance exam.

Then the short-listed aspirants will have to attend SSB multiple rounds of interviews. Contenders also go through Group task and psychology test which are conducted by State Selection Board.

Procedure/ Move Toward to NDA:

Every year on a regular period of time, UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) releases NDA notification in the month of December-January and May-June. One can apply through online or offline mode.
  • The entrance exam is conducted in the months of April and September with the motive to qualify the applying aspirants for further process.
  • Then the merit list will be prepared on the basis of contenders’ marks in test. Aspirants will be called for SSB interview round.
  • The SSB Interview round comprises two separate tests – Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test.
  • Individuals who will be able to clear both the rounds are required to submit their original as well as self attested copies of required documents.

Essential Documents:

  • Matriculation passed certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth,
  • Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification.
  • To be acceptable, candidates for the Army/ Navy/ Naval Academy and Air Force should secure the minimum qualifying marks separately in:
  • Written examination of NDA 2017 as set by the Commission
  • Officer Potentiality Test as fixed by the Services Selection Board at their discretion.

Guidelines to Join National Defence Academy:

Candidates those who have cracked intermediate studies with Physics and Maths as main subjects can apply against NDA notification.
  • Individuals need to clear Entrance Examination first which is conducted 2 times in a year by UPSC. The written exam in held for 3 wings which are Army, Navel, Air Force. Arts students can apply only for Army wings.
  • After the test, qualified individuals will have to attend SSB interview round. Then the Physical Standard Test and medical examination will be done. On the basis of contenders’ performance in all the stages they will get selected for National Defence Academy.

NDA Entrance Exam Pattern & Syllabus:

  • Objective type questions from the Mathematics and General Ability sections will be asked in the entrance exam.
  • Code 1 will comprise of Mathematics questions of 300 marks while code 2 will comprise of general ability questions of 600 marks.
  • Question paper will be available in both Hindi and English languages.
  • There will be a negative marking scheme for every incorrect answer.
  • Four options will be given for each question candidates need to choose any one correct option.
  • It is a written exam as it is conducted through offline mode.
