Indian Air Force is going to conduct Air Force Common Admission Online Test (AFCAT) to recruit bright and dynamic candidates for Indian the post of Flying & Ground Duty Officers. AFCAT Application 2019 has started on 1st December 2018. The Selection Process of Indian Air Force is made very stringent in order to recruit only credible candidates through AFCAT. AFCAT 2019 :Detailed Exam Pattern

Air Force Common Admission Online Test (AFCAT) is a three stage exam, conducted by Indian Air Force. The selection process comprises –
1. Online AFCAT Test
2. SSB

  • STAGE – I (Online AFCAT Test)
  • STAGE – II (SSB)
  • STAGE – III
  • STAGE – IV

Online AFCAT Test 2019

  • The Online AFCAT Test will be objective in nature.
  • The exam paper will be in English language only.
  • For each right answer 3 marks will be awarded.
  • And for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted from your score.

  • The Online Test is To be announced in various exam centres.
  • It is mandatory for the you to opt for Ground Duty (Technical) branch to appear in both AFCAT as well as Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).

SSB

Once you qualify the online AFCAT Test, you will become eligible for SSB. The SSB is a 5 day interview consisting of following stages.

STAGE – I (Day 1)

  • Officer Intelligence rating Test.
  • Picture perception and Discussion Test.
  • If you failed to clear Stage – I, you will be sent back on the first day itself.

STAGE – II

Once you qualify STAGE – I, you would be eligible to appear for STAGE-II which would take 3 -4 days. In these days you will undergo following test.
  • Psychological Tests (Written Test).
  • Group Tests (Interactive indoor and outdoor activities).
  • Personal Interview
  • If you have applied for flying branch then you will also have to undergo Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test.

STAGE – III

  • Once you qualify STAGE – III, you will be called for Medical Examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru.

STAGE – IV 

  • Air Force Selection Board will prepare an All India Merit List based on your performance in the Written Test and AFSB Interview (Stage I + Stage II).
  • If you find yourself in all India Merit List, then on the basis of vacancies available in various branches/sub branches, joining instructions will be issued to you to join one of the Training establishments.

AFCAT 2019 Marking Scheme

There has been no change in the marking scheme of AFCAT 2019 and it is the same as it was for the year 2017. Individuals must note that negative marking will be applicable for the test. The marking scheme is given as follows:
  • +3 marks will be awarded for every accurate answer.
  • 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • Marks will not be deducted from the total score of the student for leaving a question blank or failure in attempting it.

AFCAT 2019 :Detailed Exam Syllabus

The syllabus for AFCAT 2019 will be based on 10+2 or higher secondary school level knowledge. It will be as decided by IAF for every section. Candidates must make sure that they follow the right syllabus to prepare well for the exam. The section wise syllabus is given as follows:

Part 1: General Awareness

 The aim of this section is to determine the general thought process of the participants. It will assess aspirant’s awareness in current events. The main topics along for this section are given below:
  • History
  • Sports
  • Geography
  • Environment,
  • Defense
  • Art and Culture
  • International Current Affairs
  • Politics
  • Civics
  • Basic Science

Part 2: Verbal Ability in English

This section has questions that will test the grasp an applicant has on the English language. The aspirant’s vocabulary, grammar and verbal ability will be evaluated in this section. The important topics for this section are:
  • Comprehension
  • Fill in the blanks by choosing the appropriate word
  • Error Detection
  • Sentence Completion
  • Synonyms and Antonyms
  • Testing of Vocabulary
  • Tenses
  • Basic Grammar

Part 3: Numerical Ability

 In this segment, the aspirant’s ability to solve numerical problems with speed and accuracy is evaluated. It will include questions to assess how participants can work with numbers, do quick calculations and understand various arithmetic questions. They ought to have a good understanding of basic mathematical concepts to fare well in this section. The important topics for this section are as follows:

Part 4: Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test
