UPSC CDS Recruitment 2018 Vacancies

There are approximately a total of 414 vacancies that are released in UPSC Recruitment for CDS 2018. The Vacancies will be allotted for the following courses.

Salary Structure of UPSC CDS Recruitment 2018 

Let’s look at the pay scale of Army officers and equivalent ranks in Air Force and Navy.
  • Lieutant: 56,100-1,77,500 Rs
  • Captain: 6,13,00-1,93,900 Rs
  • Cadet Training Stipend: 56,100 Rs p.m

UPSC CDS Recruitment 2018 Eligibility Criteria 

A. Age Criteria

  1. For IMA - Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 2000 only are eligible.
  2. For Indian Naval Academy - Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 2000 only are eligible.
  3. For Air Force Academy - 20 to 24 years as on 1st January, 2019 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1995 and not later than 1st January, 1999 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1993 and not later than 1st January 1999) only are eligible.
  4. For Officers' Training Academy - (SSC Course for men) Unmarried Male candidates 2nd January, 1994 and not later than 1st January, 2000 only are eligible.
  5. For Officers' Training Academy - (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1994 and not later than 1st January, 2000.
NOTE:
  • Candidate below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to 7 apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live with family out of the premises.
  • Male divorcee/widower candidates cannot be treated as unmarried male for the purpose of their admission in IMA/INA/AFA courses and accordingly they are not eligible for these courses. 

B. Educational Qualifications

  1. For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy you need to have a Degree from a recognised University or equivalent.
  2. For Indian Naval Academy, you need to have a Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.
  3. For Air Force Academy you need to have a Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

C. Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST/ExSM – 5 years
  • OBC – 3 years
  • PwD – 10 years

UPSC CDS Recruitment 2018 Selection Process

You will be selected for the UPSC recruitment for Medical Officers through Combined Medical Services examination. Once you qualify the written exam you will be called for SSB Interview round.

Note: 
  1. Written Exam will be conducted in Offline mode. 
  2. There will be negative marking(One third (0.33)) in the written exam.

Exam Pattern For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy:

Exam Pattern For Admission to Officers’ Training Academy:

Some Important points about Exam:-
  • The maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be equal for each course.
  • The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. 
  • There will be penalty (Negative Marking,One third (0.33)) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
  • The question papers (Test Booklets) of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.
  • Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write answers for them.
  • The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination.
  • The candidates are not permitted to use calculator for answering objective type papers (Test Booklets). They should not therefore, bring the same inside the Examination Hall. 

Intelligence and Personality Test (SSB)

Candidates who have qualified in the written exam. Are required to Register themselves on the recruiting directorate website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in in order to enable them to receive call up for SSB interview.

How to Apply for UPSC Recruitment CDS 2018

Applications will be accepted only via online mode.
  1. Fill the Application Part I. (link given Below)
  2. You will receive a provisional Registration Number.
  3. Make sure to note it down and save it.
  4. Complete the Part II of application, there you have to fill the registration number and other details and click on submit.
  5. You will also be required to pay online.
  6. You can also pay Offline through Cash Payment at SBI.
  7. Read instructions in Application Fees section below.
  8. You can also go to the UPSC Website and apply from there.
  9. Click on “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC”
  10. Click on Part I of Registration for the exam and follow steps 1-6.

  • SC/ST/PH/Female – No Fee.
  • General/OBC – Rs. 200/-
    • You can pay Online as well as Offline.
    • For Offline payment, you can take a printout of the Pay Slip from the Part II of Registration Form.
    • You can deposit cash at nearest State Bank of India (SBI) branch after filling your Pay Slip.
