Complex Reasoning MCQ for IBPS Clerk 2017

Directions (Q. 1-5): In these questions a relationship between different elements is shown in the statements. The statements are followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. Give answer
  1. if only conclusion I is true.
  2. if only conclusion II is true.
  3. if either conclusion I  or II is true.
  4. if neither conclusion I  nor II is true.
  5. if both conclusions I  and  II are true.

1. Statements: A ≥ B < C, D = C > E, F ≤ E
    Conclusions:        I. A ≥ E              II. D > B

2. Statements: K ≤ L = M, M ≥ N > O, P ≤ O = H
    Conclusions:        I. L > O              II. N > P

3. Statements: Z = Y ≥ X, O = X ≥ U, U = E
    Conclusions:        I. Z ≥ U              II. Z ≥ O

4. Statements: T ≤ P > C, C ≥ Q < R, R = B > A
    Conclusions:        I. P > R               II. A < R

5. Statements: I ≤ K > J, K = O > C ≤ P, O = B ≥ Z
    Conclusions:        I. O ≥ I               II. B ≥ I

Directions (Q. 6-8): These questions are based on the following six three-digit numbers.
734      835      234       436      981       547

6. If 1is added to the last digit of each of the numbers, how many numbers thus formed will be a perfect square?
1) Three
2) Two
3) One
4) None
5) None of these

7. If in each number all the three digits are arranged in ascending order within the number, which of the following will be the highest number?
1) 734
2) 547
3) 835
4) 436
5) None of these

8. If in each number the first and second digits are interchanged, which of the following will be the second lowest number?
1) 981
2) 734
3) 835
4) 234
5) 436

Answers:

  1. 2
  2. 5
  3. 5
  4. 2
  5. 5
  6. 4; After adding one to the last digit the numbers will be 735, 836, 236, 437, 982 and 548. There is no number here which is a perfect square.
  7. 2; After arranging, the numbers become 347, 358, 234, 346, 189, 457. Hence, the highest number is 457. Thus, the number will be 547.
  8. 5; According to the question, the numbers after rearranging become 374, 385, 324, 346, 891, 457. Hence, the second lowest number is 346. Thus, the number will be 436.
