India has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoU) with Japan on Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP). Under the programme, India will send 3-lakh youth to Japan as technical interns for on-the-job training for a period of 3-5 years. The MoC is expected to boost bilateral cooperation between India and Japan in the field of skill development.
2. (d) Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh government has reduced the rate of interest on loan given to women and their self help groups- under Saksham Yojna from 6.5 per cent to 5 per cent. The rate of interest on loans given to them has been cut from 6.5 per cent to 5 per cent to benefit more women and women’s SHGs under Saksham Yojna in the state.

Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal have been elected to the UN Human Rights Council along with 12 other countries. The other nations elected to the human rights wing of the United Nations include Angola, Australia, Chile, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Qatar, Senegal, Slovakia, Spain and Ukraine. This Human Rights Council election by the UN General Assembly was the first one conducted with new ballot papers.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched an online campaign on ‘women for women’: #IamThatWoman in an attempt to end gender bias in women against women. The WCD Ministry aims to highlight through the campaign, the various aspects of women standing by and for other women.

The first Global Investors Summit will be held in Assam in February 2018. The state government plans to utilise the event to showcase Assam's business potential with attractive policies in order to attract investment.

Noted Indian-American attorney Ajay Raju was honoured with the 3rd American Bazaar Philanthropy award in recognition of his philanthropic activities in the US. Raju was honoured for his commitment to revive Philadelphia through the Germination Project.

The AYUSH Festival of Stamps 2017 was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar at Maquinez Palace in Panaji, Goa. The two-day exhibition event is being jointly organised by the Goa Postal Region, Indian postal department and the Ministry of AYUSH.

The National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) of India signed an investment agreement worth USD 1 billion with a wholly owned unit of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). The first-ever International tri services joint exercise “INDRA – 2017” will be conducted between Indian and Russian Armed Forces in the Eastern Military District of Russia from 19 to 29 Oct 2017. INDRA-2017 will strengthen mutual confidence, inter-operability and enable sharing of best practices between both the armed forces.

Ministry of Railways is introducing a new tri-weekly Special Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Mumbai from 16 October 2017. The main aim behind the move is to fulfil the long overdue demand of passengers and to provide faster and convenient connectivity to passengers between the two metro cities.

Pakistan and Iran on 15 October 2017 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve border security management, agreeing to not let their territories be used for terrorism against each other. The joint proposals pertaining to border situation, security matters, immigration and border trade between the two countries were discussed.

Mohun Bagan won the 37th All India Governor's Gold Cup football tournament for the 10th time by defeating Partha Chakra by a narrow 1-0 margin on 15 October 2017. In the final match played at Paljor Stadium, at Gangtok, Mohun Bagan's striker GA Kramah scored the lone goal in the 7th minute. The Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup is the only tournament to have been held uninterruptedly for the last 31 years.
