Y.C Modi named National Investigation Agency Chief
Senior Indian Police Service officer ‘Y.C Modi’ (1984 batch- Assam-Meghalaya cadre) has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
He will take over from Sharad Kumar (longest serving chief of the NIA) after he completes his tenure on 30th October this year.
Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has also approved the appointment of Modi as an officer on special duty (OSD) in NIA with immediate effect to ensure a smooth takeover.

Rajni Kant Misra named Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal
Senior IPS officer Rajni Kant Misra (1984 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre) has been appointed director general (DG) of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
He will hold the post till the date of his superannuation (31st August 2019).
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is one of India's Central Armed Police Forces, currently under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
As of 2017, it has 76,337 active personnel in 67 battalions.
Current account deficit increases to 2.4% of GDP in first quarter: RBI
Current account deficit (CAD) of the first quarter of this fiscal widened to 2.4% of gross domestic product (14.3 billion dollars) as imports pushed the trade deficit.
Last year, it was 0.1% (401 million dollars) in the same period.
On a sequential basis, the CAD also widened from0.6 % (3.4 billion dollars) of GDP in the fourth quarter of last fiscal.
According to the RBI, widening of the year-on-year deficit was primarily on account of a higher trade deficit brought about by a larger increase in merchandise imports relative to exports.
The balance of payments for the April-June quarter increased to 11.40 billion dollars from 6.969 billion dollars in the year-ago period and net foreign direct investment in the reporting quarter almost doubled from its level at 7.2 billion dollars in the same period last year.
