Strategy for IBPS PO 2016 Prelims Exam - Based on Today's Exam

The candidates should start with the English Section First. The section should be completed within 15 min maximum. The candidates should start this section with error detection. The 10 error detection can be completed within 5-6 minutes. Cloze test takes 5 mins for 8 questions. Candidates should go for the re-arrangement then.
Candidates should not invest more than 20 mins in Reasoning. They should answer the topics in the following order, syllogism, inequality, blood relation and directions.

The Quantitative Aptitude section should be attempted at the last. Candidates should complete the section in 20 mins. They should start with inequality, number series, approximations, DI and miscellaneous.


1.) Start with English section

Time allotment : 15-17 minutes
⇒ Start with error spotting out of 10 questions 6-7 are easy in first two slots

⇒ Cloze test within 5 mins, there are 8 questions in Cloze test
⇒ then go for rearrange, this part is tricky but you can do it within 5 mins.

Attempt Reading Comprehensions only if you have enough time and you are strong at questions like authors opinion, central idea of passage etc. RC are difficult, if you are having 4-5 minutes then save your time for easy questions.

2.) Then go for reasoning


Time allotment : 20-22 minutes
⇒ First attempt these

  • Syllogism
  • Inequalities
  • Blood relation
  • Directions sense test
You will be able to solve 18-20 questions within 16-17 minutes. 
Now pick one Puzzle and solve it. Within 5-6 minutes you will be able to solve one puzzle

3.) Quantitative Aptitude : Attempt at last


Time allotment - 21-22 minutes

⇒Start attempting with
  • Number series
  • Inequality- easy 5 questions
  • Approximations⇒ DI was simple, out of 5 questions from all the sets, 3-4 were very easy.
In the remaining time do the questions related to miscellaneous chapters, ie. Time and work, SI & CI, Ratios, Average, Time & Speed, Profit and Loss etc.
