SSC CGL Tier -1 : Exam Timings 

Paper will be conducted in three shifts. Shift timings are as follow:
  1. 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM
  2. 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM
  3. 4:15 to 5:15 PM

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis - Quantitative Aptitude

Quant in CGL 2017 exam was of moderate level.
  • Questions from Pie Chart DI were asked and there were 6 questions of SI & CI and Profit and Loss. 
  • There were 3 from trigonometry which are not of basic level. 
  • Questions from algebra were quite easy. Geometry questions are not that easy. Difficult questions are asked from trains. 
  • Revise formulas and short tricks is a must. Almost 10 questions were asked from advanced math.
  • There were 1 DI in the Exam:-Pie Chart

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis - Reasoning

The General Intelligence/Reasoning section of SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 were quite easy .
  • Maximum questions were asked from both Analogy and Classification. 
  • The Non-Verbal Reasoning and Series questions were easy to answer,
  • The mathematical operation section was tough and required a lot of calculations.
  • Some questions were difficult which were asked from ages, coding-decoding and figure counting.
Students can have a fair idea of what SSC had been upto in terms of these questions. As per the inputs shared by students, this was the easiest among all the other sections.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis - English Language

English Language section again surprised candidates with 1 question from Active/Passive Voice and 1 question from narration. There was no reading comprehension and this was a major shocker for students. This year in this shift there was a cloze test (cloze tests were not seen in CGL Tier I exams in last 2-3 years). Para Jumble was a new introduction in this year's exam. Questions from Antonyms & Synonyms were quite difficult.

  • One word substitution: Somnambulist
  • Idioms: The alpha and omega  / Throw the sponge
  • Topic of Cloze Test: Job Performance Parameters

SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Expected Cut-Off

The cut-off for SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 will be published after the result of SSC CGL Tier-1 2017. The cut-off will be rolled out both State-Wise and Category-Wise. Candidates will get a proper idea about their chances of selection through the final cut-off for Tier-1 of SSC CGL 2017 Exam.

Since the exam pattern was more or less similar to that of previous year, we are anticipating the cut-off to be roughly the same as that of SSC CGL 2016.
