Nationalism is a concept of strong attachment towards one's country. Feeling of nationality mingled with patriotism grows into political ideology that is called Nationalism. Roots of nationalism in modern history sprouted from mutiny revolt of 1857 which eventually freed India from the chains of imperialism in 1947.
Nationalism generates feeling of brotherhood fraternity and sacrifice among the mass. Nationalism is a tool that can demolish the devil of social discrimination based on cast creed and class. Article 15 prohibits the discrimination based on sex, cast, creed, religion & place and nationalism helps in making it pragmatic. It helps in upliftment of socially backward, women and lower down the intensity of social crime. Nationalism is the bans of all round development of human civilization. It builds patriotism and strong patriotic ideologies. It generates an honesty and duty towards one’s country which ultimately reflected in working efficiency and economic development.
However high intensity of nationalism develops jingoism and chauvinism. Distorted form of nationalism leads to imperialism. Sometimes it is uses as propaganda of racism. It may develop disparities at global stage. Though United Nation commission on human rights contributing positively to tackle these obstacles. Hence Nationalism complementary to internationalism and global acceptance is a way to lead the civilization on path of progress.
Nationalism brings sustainable development in social, economic and political front but it should not overcome humanity. It is tool to eliminate social evils and encourages unity and fraternity. Nationalism is a seed which flourishes and develops into a tree representing nation.
