"Jan Dhan Yojana"

Jan Dhan Yojana commonly known as Pradhan Mantri jan dhan yojana is an ambitious program launched by the Honourable Prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi for Financial Inclusion to ensure easy access to financial services such as banking Savings & deposit accounts, remittance, credit, Insurance, pension in an affordable manner. This scheme was announced by Mr. Modi in his maiden Independence speech from the Red Fort on 15th August
Main motto of this scheme is to attach each and every Indian citizen to the Bank account so that every citizen can avail the benefit of various scheme or subsidised program run by Indian Government.  This scheme provides an Overdraft facility of Rs 5000 after six months and Rupay debit card with an inbuilt accident insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh and Rupay Kisan Card to the account holder. On the day of Inauguration Mr. Modi said that today is the day of financial freedom in India. Other state government also flagged off this scheme. The main purpose of this scheme “Mera Khata Bhagya Vidhata” which means my account is divine. People turned out in large number towards the step of financial freedom and there was an overwhelming response by the Indian citizens. This is one of the best step taken by the Indian government for the upliftment of the poor people. As you cannot please everyone in a democratic country, the opposition and few people criticised it and said that the poor needs foods grain more than any bank account and financial services. This scheme has created an unnecessary work pressure on the Banking staff.
This is a major step taken by government to provide the essential financial services to the poor citizen and attach them to the main stream of development. This scheme proves to be an iron hand in dealing with corruption, after this scheme citizen are getting their subsidy and other benefit into their account directly without any mediator or corrupt person in between. This scheme helps in the upliftment of poor and economically and socially backword people. This has proved as a boon for people and Indian economy as every citizen started savings and help in the development of country.
