SBI PO Pre Exam Analysis 2017, Expected Cutoff: 29 April 2017 1st Slot


The State Bank of India has started its recruitment for the year 2017. The SBI PO Prelims Exam is taking place for the Recruitment of Probationary Officer. With over 2313 vacancies announced for the post of Probationary Officers this SBI PO exam. It is very important to know the SBI PO Analysis of Prelims for each stage of the exam. 

This article covers the SBI PO Analysis of Prelims of ALL DAYS and ALL SLOTS. The Preliminary Exam is scheduled to be conducted over 4 days (29th, 30th April & 6th, 7th May 2017).

The total time was 1 hour i.e. 60 minutes. Hence, Speed, Accuracy and Planning is surely needed to have good number of attempts with maximum accuracy.


SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for English Language Section

Beginning our paper review with English Section, this section was quite easily solvable. The English Section in SBI PO Prelims Paper (Shift 1) could be broadly divided into 3 sections – Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test and Spotting errors, with 10 questions each.

  • Reading Comprehension – 10 Qs – Easy – Based on “Internet Technology & Computer Hacking“.
  • Antonyms & Synonyms – 2-3 Qs – Easy
  • Cloze Test – 10 Qs – Moderate (asked in new way)
  • Phrase Replacement – 10 Qs- Moderate – Based on Sentence improvement & Phrasal Verb




SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for Reasoning Section

Turning our attention towards Reasoning Ability, this section was a surprise for a lot of candidates. A lot of difficult puzzles were added this year in the mix and a number of candidates were not able to identify those.

  • Scheduling – 5 Qs – Difficult – 8 People conducted a seminar in 4 differnt month & in 8 different dates.
  • Linear Arrangement – 5 Qs –  Moderate – 6 People having different age & all of them facing north.
  • Double Lineup – 5Qs – Moderate – 6 People visited a candy shop to buy candy.
  • Floor Puzzle – 5Qs – Moderate – 8 Engineering students lives on 8 different floor of a building & studies 8 different branches of engineering.
  • Puzzle – 5 Qs – Moderate -13 People all facing north sitting in a row. The rank of some people is given such as ram is sitting at 3rd positing & atul is sitting at 8th position.
  • Inequality – 5 Qs – Easy
  • Blood Relations – 1 Qs – Easy
  • Directions & Distances – 1 Qs – Easy
  • Coding decoding – 3 Qs – Easy



SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis for Quants Section

A lot of candidates found the Maths section to be quite moderate to attempt. The level of difficulty of Quant Section in SBI PO Prelims (Slot 1) was slightly Moderate.

  • Data Interpretation – 10 Qs (2 Sets) – Based on Tabular & Bar Graph – Moderate
  • Number Series – 5 Qs – Easy
  • Simplification – 5 Qs – Easy
  • Quadratic Equations –  5 Qs – Easy
  • Miscellaneous* – 10 Qs – Moderate
