RBI Assistant Exam Analysis: 23 December 2016 Slot 3

According to RBI Assistant Exam Structure, the preliminary examination consisted of 100 questions from 3 sections – English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.

Each question carried 1 mark and the total time to solve the entire paper was 60 minutes. Turning our attention back to RBI Assistant Exam Analysis,

The paper had a mixed number of easy, moderate to challenging questions, which could be segregated and attempted by candidates with good amount of practice beforehand. The QA Section in RBI Assistant Prelims Examination had Easy to Moderate Levelwith slightly calculative questions. The topic-wise breakdown of questions is as follows.

  1. Data Interpretation : 1 set  – 5 Questions ( Tabular DI )

  2. Simplification/Approximation – 10 Questions (Moderate- difficult)

  3. Number Series : 5 Questions

  4. Miscellaneous : 15 Questions (Age, Partnership, Profit Loss, Average, Boats & Stream, Compound/Simple Interest, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Time & Work, etc.)

The Miscellaneous Questions consisted of SI/CI, Time Distance and Work, Ratio & Proportion etc. Based on the section, we expect an 20 to 22 attempt of questions with good accuracy to be a decent score.

RBI Assistant Exam Analysis for Reasoning Section

The Reasoning Section had a Easy Level throughout the paper. The topic-wise breakdown of questions is as follows.

Inequality : 5 Questions

Syllogism : 5 Questions

Seating Arrangement – 2 sets : 10 Questions

  • i) Linear arrangement – 8 people facing North
  • ii) Circular Arrangement – 8 people Facing Center
Puzzle – 1 set ( 7 people working from Monday to Sunday ) – 5 Questions

Alphanumeric Symbol Series : 5 Questions

Miscellaneous : 5 Questions [ 3 blood Relation and 2 Direction Questions ]


While the syllogism based questions were easy to solve, most candidates skipped Sitting Arranged questions due to the confusing language. Based on the level of the questions asked, we expect an 22 to 24 attempt of questions with good accuracy to be a decent score.
