NATIONAL

Telangana, Uttarakhand introduced mobile court units

• Telangana and Uttarakhand have become the first states in the country to introduce mobile court units to allow witnesses and victims, including women and children, to record evidence from remote locations under circumstances that do not permit them to appear before courts in person.
• The aim is to allow the recording of evidence of women and child victims or witnesses, doctors and medical practitioners, and investigation officers on demand. The mobile court unit facility is meant for subordinate courts.

Railways launched two long haul freight trains Trishul and Garuda

• The Indian Railways has launched two long haul freight trains "Trishul" and "Garuda" -- which are twice or multiple times longer than the normal composition of freight trains. These long-haul trains provide a very effective solution to the problem of capacity constraints in critical sections.
• Trishul is South Central Railway (SCR)'s first long-haul train comprising three freight trains, i.e. 177 wagons. This train was launched on Thursday from the Kondapalli station of the Vijayawada division to the Khurda division of the East Coast Railway.
• SCR followed it up with the running of yet another similar train 'Garuda' on Friday from Raichur of Guntakal division to Manuguru of Secunderabad division.

Parliamentary Standing committees for 2021-22 reconstituted

• Various department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees were reconstituted on Saturday by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in consultation with Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.
• Bharatiya Janata Party member Sushil Kumar Modi has been appointed the new chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, in place of Bhupender Yadav who has become a minister.
• Congress MP Anand Sharma will continue to head the Parliamentary panel on Home Affairs and Jairam Ramesh will retain the chairmanship of the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.

Valtteri Bottas Wins Turkish Grand Prix 2021

• Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes-Finland) has won the F1 Turkish Grand Prix 2021, held on October 10, 2021. This is his first title of this season. Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands) came second while Sergio Perez (Mexico- Red Bull) finished third. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton finished fifth.

Harpreet Kochhar Appointed President of Public Health Agency of Canada

• A senior Indo-Canadian scientist has been appointed president of the Public Health Agency of Canada or PHAC, replacing an incumbent who has had a controversial tenure which included being censured by the speaker of the House of Commons.
• Dr. Harpreet S Kochhar, currently a senior bureaucrat with Health Canada, the country’s health ministry, with the designation of associate deputy minister of health, will assume charge later this month, replacing Iain Stewart.

National Postal Day 2021: 10th October

• In India, the National Postal Day is celebrated annually on 10 October, as an extension of World Post Day, which is celebrated on 9 October. The Day aims to commemorate the role played by the Indian postal department for the past 150 years, which was founded in 1854 by Lord Dalhousie. Indian postal service is an integral part of India. The postal services in India have given the best performance despite the diversity in culture, tradition, and difficult geographical terrains.
• A PIN in Pincode stands for Postal Index Number. The 6-digit PIN system was introduced by Shriram Bhikaji Velankar, an additional secretary in the Union Ministry of Communications on 15 August 1972. The first digit of the PIN code marks the region. The second digit denotes the sub-region. The third digit marks the district. The last three digits show the post office under which a particular address falls.

Benyamin was chosen for Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Literary Award

• Writer Benyamin has been chosen for the coveted Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Literary Award. His Manthalirile 20 Communist Varshangal fetched Benyamin the honor, which comprises a purse of `1 lakh and a bronze statue designed by Kanayi Kunjiraman. The award function will be held at the Nishagandhi auditorium at 5.30 pm on October 27, the death anniversary of Vayalar.
• The jury chaired by Perumbadavam Sreedharan had K R Meera, George Onakkoor, and C Unnikrishnan as its members. Works, including prose, poetry, and literary criticism, published in the previous five years till 2020 were considered for the award. As a preliminary step before deciding on the final choice, 550 people were asked to submit their suggestions. Of them, 169 people responded and they suggested 197 works.

Reliance New Energy Solar acquires rec solar holdings for $771 million

• Reliance New Energy Solar(RNESL) today said that it has acquired 100% shareholding of REC Solar Holdings AS (REC Group) from China National Bluestar (Group) Co Ltd., for a value of $771 million.
• The purchase by Reliance New Energy Solar Ltd (RNESL) follows the June announcement by RIL - operator of the world's biggest refining complex - that it would invest $10.1 billion in clean energy over three years in a drive to become net carbon zero by 2035.

PNB launches ‘6S Campaign’ under customer outreach program

• Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched the ‘6S Campaign’ under a customer outreach program to extend financial services at a concessional rate during the festival season. The ‘6S Campaign’ encapsulates different schemes such as – Swabhiman, Samruddhi, Sampark and Shikhar, Sankalp, and Swagat. The objective is to drive a special awareness campaign for the development of financial services in the country and to accelerate credit growth, improve penetration of social security schemes and drive digital banking push.
• Through Swabhimaan, the Bank aims to aggressively push the financial inclusion agenda by deepening penetration of the three Jan Suraksha or Social Security Schemes about the insurance and pension sector namely, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana.
• Under the Samruddhi scheme, Bank aims to drive credit outreach for the agricultural sector which is the cornerstone of the Indian economy.

तेलंगाना, उत्तराखंड ने मोबाइल कोर्ट इकाइयों की शुरुआत की

• तेलंगाना और उत्तराखंड देश के ऐसे पहले राज्य बन गए हैं जहां महिलाओं और बच्चों सहित गवाहों और पीड़ितों को उन परिस्थितियों में साक्ष्य रिकॉर्ड करने की अनुमति देने के लिए मोबाइल कोर्ट इकाइयां शुरू की गई हैं, जो उन्हें व्यक्तिगत रूप से अदालतों के सामने पेश होने की अनुमति नहीं देती हैं।
• इसका उद्देश्य मांग पर महिलाओं और बाल पीड़ितों या गवाहों, डॉक्टरों और चिकित्सकों और जांच अधिकारियों के साक्ष्य की रिकॉर्डिंग की अनुमति देना है। मोबाइल कोर्ट यूनिट सुविधा अधीनस्थ न्यायालयों के लिए है।

रेलवे ने दो लंबी दूरी की मालगाड़ियां त्रिशूल और गरुड़ शुरू कीं

• भारतीय रेलवे ने दो लंबी दूरी की मालगाड़ियां "त्रिशूल" और "गरुड़" शुरू की हैं - जो मालगाड़ियों की सामान्य संरचना से दोगुनी या कई गुना लंबी हैं। ये लंबी दूरी की ट्रेनें महत्वपूर्ण वर्गों में क्षमता की कमी की समस्या का बहुत प्रभावी समाधान प्रदान करती हैं।
• त्रिशूल दक्षिण मध्य रेलवे (SCR) की पहली लंबी दौड़ वाली ट्रेन है जिसमें तीन मालगाड़ियाँ, यानी 177 वैगन शामिल हैं। इस ट्रेन को गुरुवार को विजयवाड़ा मंडल के कोंडापल्ली स्टेशन से पूर्वी तट रेलवे के खुर्दा मंडल के लिए रवाना किया गया।
• एससीआर ने इसके बाद शुक्रवार को गुंतकल मंडल के रायचूर से सिकंदराबाद मंडल के मनुगुरु तक इसी तरह की एक और ट्रेन 'गरुड़' चलाई।

2021-22 के लिए संसदीय स्थायी समितियों का पुनर्गठन

• लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ओम बिरला द्वारा राज्यसभा के सभापति एम वेंकैया नायडू के परामर्श से शनिवार को विभिन्न विभागों से संबंधित संसदीय स्थायी समितियों का पुनर्गठन किया गया।
• भारतीय जनता पार्टी के सदस्य सुशील कुमार मोदी को मंत्री बने भूपेंद्र यादव के स्थान पर कार्मिक, लोक शिकायत, कानून और न्याय संबंधी संसदीय समिति का नया अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है।
• कांग्रेस सांसद आनंद शर्मा गृह मामलों के संसदीय पैनल के अध्यक्ष बने रहेंगे और जयराम रमेश विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी, पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन संबंधी समिति की अध्यक्षता बनाए रखेंगे।

• वाल्टेरी बोटास (मर्सिडीज-फिनलैंड) ने 10 अक्टूबर, 2021 को आयोजित एफ1 टर्किश ग्रांड प्रिक्स 2021 जीता है। यह इस सीजन का उनका पहला खिताब है। मैक्स वेरस्टापेन (रेड बुल - नीदरलैंड) दूसरे स्थान पर रहे जबकि सर्जियो पेरेज़ (मेक्सिको- रेड बुल) तीसरे स्थान पर रहे। इस बीच, लुईस हैमिल्टन पांचवें स्थान पर रहे।

हरप्रीत कोचर कनाडा की सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य एजेंसी के अध्यक्ष नियुक्त

• एक वरिष्ठ भारतीय-कनाडाई वैज्ञानिक को कनाडा की सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य एजेंसी या PHAC का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है, जो एक ऐसे पदधारी की जगह ले रहा है, जिसका विवादास्पद कार्यकाल रहा है, जिसमें हाउस ऑफ कॉमन्स के स्पीकर द्वारा निंदा करना शामिल है।
• डॉ हरप्रीत एस कोचर, वर्तमान में स्वास्थ्य कनाडा, देश के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय के एक वरिष्ठ नौकरशाह, सहयोगी उप स्वास्थ्य मंत्री के पद के साथ, इयान स्टीवर्ट की जगह इस महीने के अंत में पदभार ग्रहण करेंगे।

राष्ट्रीय डाक दिवस 2021: 10 अक्टूबर

• भारत में, राष्ट्रीय डाक दिवस प्रतिवर्ष 10 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है, विश्व डाक दिवस के विस्तार के रूप में जो 9 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है। इस दिवस का उद्देश्य पिछले 150 वर्षों से भारतीय डाक विभाग द्वारा निभाई गई भूमिका को याद करना है, जिसकी स्थापना 1854 में लॉर्ड डलहौजी ने की थी। भारतीय डाक सेवा भारत का अभिन्न अंग है। भारत में डाक सेवाओं ने संस्कृति, परंपरा और कठिन भौगोलिक इलाकों में विविधता के बावजूद सबसे अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया है।
• पिनकोड में पिन का मतलब पोस्टल इंडेक्स नंबर है। 15 अगस्त 1972 को केंद्रीय संचार मंत्रालय में एक अतिरिक्त सचिव श्रीराम भिकाजी वेलणकर द्वारा 6 अंकों की पिन प्रणाली की शुरुआत की गई थी। पिन कोड का पहला अंक क्षेत्र को चिह्नित करता है। दूसरा अंक उप-क्षेत्र को दर्शाता है। तीसरा अंक जिले को चिह्नित करता है। अंतिम तीन अंक उस डाकघर को दर्शाते हैं जिसके अंतर्गत एक विशेष पता आता है।

• लेखक बेन्यामिन को प्रतिष्ठित वायलर रामवर्मा स्मृति साहित्य पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है। उनकी मंथालिरिले 20 कम्युनिस्ट वर्षांगल ने बेन्यामिन को सम्मान दिया, जिसमें 1 लाख रुपये का एक पर्स और कनई कुंजिरमन द्वारा डिजाइन की गई एक कांस्य प्रतिमा शामिल है। पुरस्कार समारोह वायलार की पुण्यतिथि 27 अक्टूबर को शाम 5.30 बजे निशागंधी सभागार में होगा।

• रिलायंस न्यू एनर्जी सोलर (आरएनईएसएल) ने आज कहा कि उसने आरईसी सोलर होल्डिंग्स एएस (आरईसी ग्रुप) की 100 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी चाइना नेशनल ब्लूस्टार (ग्रुप) कंपनी लिमिटेड से 771 मिलियन डॉलर में हासिल कर ली है।
• रिलायंस न्यू एनर्जी सोलर लिमिटेड (आरएनईएसएल) की खरीद दुनिया के सबसे बड़े रिफाइनिंग कॉम्प्लेक्स के संचालक आरआईएल द्वारा जून की घोषणा के बाद की गई है - कि वह 2035 तक शुद्ध कार्बन शून्य बनने के अभियान में तीन वर्षों में स्वच्छ ऊर्जा में $ 10.1 बिलियन का निवेश करेगी।

• स्वाभिमान के माध्यम से, बैंक का उद्देश्य बीमा और पेंशन क्षेत्र से संबंधित तीन जन सुरक्षा या सामाजिक सुरक्षा योजनाओं, प्रधान मंत्री सुरक्षा बीमा योजना, प्रधान मंत्री जीवन ज्योति योजना और अटल पेंशन योजना की पैठ बढ़ाकर वित्तीय समावेशन एजेंडा को आक्रामक रूप से आगे बढ़ाना है।
