जापान 2023 तक लॉन्च करेगा लकड़ी से बना पहला उपग्रह
- जापान की सुमितोमो फॉरेस्ट्री कंपनी और क्योटो यूनिवर्सिटी ने अंतरिक्ष में कचरे की समस्या से निपटने के लिए 2023 तक दुनिया का पहला लकड़ी से बना अंतरिक्ष उपग्रह लॉन्च करने की घोषणा की है। वर्तमान में, यह प्रक्रिया अपने शुरुआती चरण में है क्योंकि अंतरिक्ष मिशन के लिए एक उपयुक्त साधन खोजने के लिए अनुसंधान टीम द्वारा कई लकड़ी सामग्री का परीक्षण किया जा रहा है। साथ ही टीम तापमान में बदलाव और धूप के प्रति बेहद प्रतिरोधी लकड़ी की सामग्रियों को विकसित करने की दिशा में भी काम कर रही है।
- यूरोपीय अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी (ESA) सांख्यिकीय मॉडल के अनुसार, अंतरिक्ष में मानव द्वारा की गई गतिविधियों के कारण अवशेषों के 130 मिलियन से अधिक टुकड़े हैं - जो हमारे ग्रह के चारों ओर एक मिलीमीटर से छोटे है। यह अवशेष अथवा मलबे के टुकड़े 22,300 मील प्रति घंटे से अधिक की गति से यात्रा कर सकता है, जो अन्य उपग्रहों को क्षति पहुंचा सकते है।

पीएम मोदी ने किया कोच्चि-मंगलुरु प्राकृतिक गैस पाइपलाइन का उद्घाटन
- प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से 3,000 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से निर्मित 450 किलोमीटर लंबी कोच्चि-मंगलुरु प्राकृतिक गैस पाइपलाइन का उद्घाटन किया है। यह कार्यक्रम वन नेशन वन गैस ग्रिड के निर्माण की दिशा की ओर एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। प्राकृतिक गैस पाइपलाइन नेटवर्क को आगामी 5-6 वर्षों में दोगुना किया जाएगा और मौजूदा सीएनजी स्टेशनों की संख्या 1,500 को बढ़ाकर 10,000 किया जाएगा।
- यह पाइपलाइन केरल के कोच्चि से एर्नाकुलम, त्रिशूर, पलक्कड़, मलप्पुरम, कोझीकोड, कन्नूर और कासरगोड जिलों से कर्नाटक के दक्षिण कन्नड़ जिले के मंगलुरु तक प्राकृतिक गैस ले जाएगी।
- इसे गेल (इंडिया) लिमिटेड द्वारा बिछाया गया है। यह कोच्चि स्थित एलएनजी रेगैसिफिकेशन टर्मिनल से प्राकृतिक गैस ले जाएगा। पाइपलाइन पर्यावरण के अनुकूल पीएनजी की आपूर्ति करेगी।
- पाइपलाइन ग्रिड से क्लीन ऊर्जा पहुंच में सुधार के साथ-साथ शहर की गैस परियोजनाओं के विकास में भी मदद मिलेगी।
मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने युवाओं को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए शुरू की 'लॉन्च पैड योजना
- मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने बाल देखभाल संस्थानों से बाहर निकलने वाले और 18 वर्ष की आयु पूरी करने वाले लड़के और लड़कियों के लिए 'लॉन्च पैड योजना' की शुरूआत की है। इस योजना को राज्य के महिला और बाल विकास विभाग द्वारा इन युवाओं को एक मंच प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से शुरू किया गया है, जिसके माध्यम से वे अपनी शिक्षा और प्रशिक्षण जारी रखकर आत्मनिर्भर बन सकेंगे।
- जिला प्रशासन इन युवाओं को कॉफी शॉप खोलने, स्टेशनरी, फोटोकॉपी, कंप्यूटर टाइपिंग और डीटीपी वर्क शुरू करने के लिए जगह उपलब्ध कराएगा।
- इसे राज्य के सभी 52 जिलों को इंदौर, सागर, ग्वालियर, जबलपुर और भोपाल में मुख्यालय के साथ 5 समूहों में विभाजित किया गया है।
- प्रत्येक लॉन्च पैड की स्थापना के लिए महिला और बाल विकास विभाग द्वारा 6 लाख रुपये की राशि प्रदान की जाएगी।
- ये लॉन्च पैड गैर-सरकारी संगठनों (NGO) के माध्यम से संचालित किए जाएंगे।
भारत ने अंटार्कटिका के लिए 40 वें वैज्ञानिक अभियान का किया शुभारंभ
- भारत द्वारा अंटार्कटिका के लिए 40 वें भारतीय वैज्ञानिक अभियान को 05 जनवरी, 2021 को गोवा के मोरमुगाओ पोर्ट से रवाना किया गया था। चार्टर्ड आइस-क्लास पोत MV वासिली गोलोविन को प्रतिष्ठित अंटार्कटिका के लिए 40 वें भारतीय वैज्ञानिक अभियान (Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica) मिशन यात्रा के लिए चुना गया है, जो 30 दिनों में अंटार्कटिका पहुंचेगा।
- इस यात्रा पर जहाज में 43 सदस्य हैं।
- भारत के प्रमुख ईंधन आपूर्तिकर्ता, इंडियन ऑयल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (IOCL) ने मिशन के लिए Jet A1 ईंधन, ल्यूब और मरीन गैस तेल (MGO) की आपूर्ति की है।
- यह अपने वैज्ञानिक मिशन के अलावा, वापसी पर, इससे पहले गई 48 सदस्य शीतकालीन टीम को वापस लाएगा, और जीवन समर्थन प्रणाली के संचालन और रखरखाव के लिए भोजन, ईंधन, प्रावधानों और पुर्जों के साथ ठिकानों को फिर से तैयार करेगा।

भारत और इजरायल ने MRSAM एयर डिफेंस सिस्टम का किया सफल परीक्षण
- भारत और इज़राइल ने मध्यम दूरी की सतह से हवा में हमला करने वाली मिसाइल (Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile) रक्षा प्रणाली का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया। MRSAM मिसाइल डिफेंस सिस्टम को DRDO और इज़राइल एयरोस्पेस इंडस्ट्रीज (IAI) द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से दुश्मन देशों द्वारा हवाई हमले से निपटने के लिए विकसित किया गया है। वर्तमान में भारतीय सेना की तीनों शाखाओं के साथ-साथ इज़राइल रक्षा बलों (IDF) द्वारा उपयोग किया जा रहा वायु एवं मिसाइल डिफेंस सिस्टम, रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (DRDO) और IAI का एक संयुक्त उद्यम था।

- ओलंपिक कांस्य और विश्व कप विजेता हॉकी खिलाड़ी माइकल किंडो का निधन। उन्होंने 1971,1973 और 1975 में 3 पुरुष हॉकी विश्व कप खेले, जहाँ भारत ने कांस्य, रजत और स्वर्ण पदक जीते थे।
- वे 1972 के ओलंपिक खेलों में भी खेले थे जहां भारत ने कांस्य पदक हासिल किया। किंडो को 1972 में अर्जुन पुरस्कार मिला था।

लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल शांतनु दयाल बने नए डिप्टी चीफ ऑफ आर्मी स्टाफ
- लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल शांतनु दयाल को नया डिप्टी चीफ ऑफ आर्मी स्टाफ (DCOAS) चुना गया है। लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल दयाल तेजपुर स्थित 4 कोर के कमांडर हैं। वह लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एसएस हसबनी की जगह लेंगे, जो 31 दिसंबर को सेवानिवृत हुए है। भारतीय सेना ने हाल ही में सेना मुख्यालय और कोर कमांडरों, प्रशासनिक और प्रशिक्षण संस्थानों सहित विभिन्न अन्य पदों पर बड़े फेरबदल किए है।
- अन्य महत्वपूर्ण फेरबदल रक्षा मंत्रालय के चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ के साथ नव-निर्मित डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ मिलिट्री अफेयर्स (डीएमए) में किया गया है, लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल तरनजीत सिंह, रक्षा मंत्रालय के तहत डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ मिलिट्री अफेयर्स (DMA) में अतिरिक्त सचिव के रूप में शामिल होने वाले पहले सेना अधिकारी हैं।

महाराष्ट्र का पत्रकार दिवस: 6 जनवरी
- महाराष्ट्र सरकार द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष 6 जनवरी को दिवंगत पत्रकार बालशास्त्री जम्भेकर की स्मृति में पत्रकार दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। मराठी भाषा का पहला समाचार पत्र 'दर्पण' 6 जनवरी, 1832 को प्रकाशित किया गया था, जो बालशास्त्री जम्भेकर का जन्मदिवस भी है।
- बालशास्त्री जम्भेकर को मराठी भाषा में पहले मराठी समाचार पत्र और पहले मराठी मासिक पत्रकारिता शुरू करने के प्रयासों के लिए ‘The Father of Marathi Journalism’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।

टाटा पावर ने MSME के लिए आसान और किफायती वित्तपोषण योजना शुरू करने के लिए सिडबी के साथ की साझेदारी
- देश की सबसे बड़ी एकीकृत बिजली कंपनी टाटा पावर ने रूफटॉप (छत) सोलर सेगमेंट में एमएसएमई ग्राहकों के लिए आसान और सस्ती वित्तपोषण योजना की शुरू करने के लिए सिडबी (लघु उद्योग विकास बैंक ऑफ इंडिया) के साथ साझेदारी करने की घोषणा की। यह योजना MSMEs को उनके व्यवसायों के लिए सतत ऊर्जा अपनाने और हरियाली को बढ़ावा देने में सशक्त बनाएगी।
- देश में एमएसएमई क्षेत्र में सौर को अपनाने में आसान और किफायती वित्तपोषण सुविधा न होना मुख्य बाधाओं में से एक रही है।
- इस समस्या को दूर करने के लिए, टाटा पावर और SIDBI ने MSME ग्राहकों के लिए एक अद्वितीय सौर वित्तपोषण समाधान तैयार करने के लिए हाथ मिलाया है, जो उन्हें 10% से कम ब्याज दर पर बिना किसी गारंटी के सोलर रूफटॉप में बदलने में मदद कर रहा है।
- यह एक त्वरित अनुमोदन और संवितरण प्रक्रिया (7 दिनों के भीतर 4 दिनों में संवितरण के साथ) के जरिए पूरा होगा।
- यह वित्तपोषण योजना केवल टाटा पावर के MSME ग्राहकों के ऑफ-ग्रिड और ऑन-ग्रिड कनेक्शन दोनों के लिए है।

RBI ने NEFT, RTGS लेनदेन के लिए 50 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की लीगल एंटिटी आइडेंटिफ़ायर की शुरुआत की
- भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने रियल टाइम ग्रॉस सेटलमेंट (RTGS) और नेशनल इलेक्ट्रॉनिक फंड्स ट्रांसफर (NEFT) के माध्यम से संस्थाओं (गैर-व्यक्तियों) द्वारा किए गए मूल्य के 50 करोड़ रुपये और उससे अधिक के सभी भुगतान लेनदेन के लिए कानूनी इकाई पहचानकर्ता (LEI) की शुरुआत की है। रियल-टाइम ग्रॉस सेटलमेंट (RTGS) और नेशनल इलेक्ट्रॉनिक फंड्स ट्रांसफर (NEFT) RBI द्वारा संचालित सेंट्रलाइज्ड पेमेंट सिस्टम हैं। यह निर्देश 01 अप्रैल, 2021 से लागू होगा।
- कानूनी इकाई पहचानकर्ता (LEI) एक 20-अंकीय संख्या है जिसका उपयोग दुनिया भर में वित्तीय लेनदेन के लिए विशिष्ट रूप से पार्टियों की पहचान करने के लिए किया जाता है।
- रिज़र्व बैंक ने बड़े कॉर्पोरेट उधारकर्ताओं के लिए काउंटर (OTC) व्युत्पन्न और गैर-व्युत्पन्न बाजारों में प्रतिभागियों के लिए चरणबद्ध तरीके से LEI की शुरुआत की है।
- LEI को लीगल एंटिटी आइडेंटिफ़ायर इंडिया लिमिटेड (LEIL) से प्राप्त किया जा सकता है, जो कि Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL) की पूर्ण स्वामित्व वाली सहायक कंपनी है।
विश्व बैंक ने FY 2020-21 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में 9.6% तक की गिरावट का जताया अनुमान
- विश्व बैंक ने हाल ही में जारी की अपनी वर्ल्ड इकनोमिक प्रोस्पेक्टस रिपोर्ट में वित्त वर्ष 2020-21 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में 9.6 प्रतिशत की गिरावट रहने का अनुमान जताया है। साथ ही विश्व बैंक ने 2021 में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था उभरकर 5.4 प्रतिशत तक पहुंचने का अनुमान लगाया है।
- इसके अलावा, विश्व बैंक द्वारा 2021 में वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था का 4 प्रतिशत दर से बढ़ने का अनुमान जताया गया है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, 2022 में वैश्विक विकास दर 3.8 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान है।
SMCB, SFB के लिए लाइसेंस पाने वाला बना भारत का पहला अर्बन-कोऑपरेटिव बैंक
- उत्तर प्रदेश स्थित शिवालिक मर्केंटाइल को-ऑपरेटिव बैंक (SMCB) भारत का पहला ऐसा शहरी सहकारी बैंक (UCB) बन गया है, जिसने RBI से स्मॉल फाइनेंस बैंक (SFB) का संचालन करने का लाइसेंस प्राप्त किया है। आरबीआई ने SMCB को कारोबार शुरू करने के लिए 18 महीने का समय दिया था।
- SMCB ने वोलंटरी ट्रांजीशन स्कीम के तहत SFB ट्रांजीशन के लिए 06 जनवरी 2021 को बैंकिंग नियामक भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) से वाणिज्यिक बैंकिंग लाइसेंस प्राप्त किया। शिवालिक स्मॉल फाइनेंस बैंक (SSFB) अप्रैल 2021 से अपना बैंकिंग परिचालन शुरू करेगा।
- SSFB, 400,000 ग्राहकों के साथ उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश, दिल्ली और उत्तराखंड में अपनी 31 शाखाओं और 250 से अधिक बैंकिंग एजेंटों के जरिए संचालन करता है। 31 मार्च, 2020 तक, बैंक का कुल जमा आधार 1,140 करोड़ रुपये और कुल अग्रिम 719 करोड़ रुपये था।

Japan to launch the first wood-based satellite by 2023
- Japan’s Sumitomo Forestry company and Kyoto University aims to launch the world’s first wood-based space satellite by 2023 to combat the problem of space junk. Currently, the initiative is in the nascent stage as several wooden materials are being tested by the research team to find a suitable one for space missions. It is also reported that the team is also working towards developing wooden materials extremely resistant to temperature changes and sunlight.
- According to the European Space Agency (ESA) statistical model, there are more than 130 million pieces of anthropogenic space debris—waste residue due to human activities—smaller than a millimetre around our planet. The debris can travel at a speed of more than 22,300 mph and can impact other satellites.
NATIONAL
PM Modi inaugurates Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the 450-km Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline built at Rs 3,000 crore via video conferencing. The event marks an important milestone towards the creation of One Nation One Gas Grid. Natural gas pipeline network will be doubled in 5-6 years and CNG stations will be raised to 10,000 from current 1,500.
- The pipeline will carry natural gas from Kochi in Kerala through Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod districts to Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka.
- It has been built by GAIL (India) Limited. It will carry natural gas from the LNG Regasification Terminal at Kochi. The pipeline will supply environment-friendly PNG.
- The pipeline grid will help improve clean energy access as well as also aid in the development of city gas projects.
MP Govt launches ‘LaunchPad Scheme’ to make youth self-reliant
- The government of Madhya Pradesh has launched a ‘LaunchPad Scheme’ for the boys and girls coming out of child care institutions and having completed 18 years of age. This scheme has been launched by the Women and Child Development Department of the state to provide a platform to these youth, through which they will be able to become self-reliant by continuing their education and training.
- The District Administration will provide space to these youths for the opening of coffee shops, stationery, photocopying, computer typing and DTP work.
- All the 52 districts of the state have been divided into 5 clusters with headquarters at Indore, Sagar, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Bhopal.
- An amount of Rs 6 lakh will be provided by the Women and Child Development Department for the installation of each launch pad.
- These launch pads will be operated through non-governmental organizations.
40th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica flagged off
- The 40th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica was flagged off on January 05, 2021, from Mormugao Port, Goa. The chartered ice-class vessel MV Vasiliy Golovnin has been chosen for the prestigious 40th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (ISEA) mission journey and will reach Antarctica in 30 days.
- The expedition journey has 43 members onboard.
- India’s major fuel supplier, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has supplied Jet A1 fuel, lubes and Marine Gas Oil (MGO) for the mission.
- Apart from its scientific mission, this expedition shall carry out the humanitarian responsibility of bringing back the 48-strong winter crew from their 15-month tenure, and resupply the bases with food, fuel, provisions and spares for operations and maintenance of life support systems.

India & Israel successfully test the MRSAM air defense system
- India and Israel successfully tested a Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) defence system. The MRSAM missile defence system has been developed jointly by DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to deal with airstrikes by enemy countries. Currently being used by all three wings of the Indian Army as well as Israel Defence Forces (IDF), the air and missile defence system was a joint venture of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the IAI.
- MRSAM is an air and missile defence system that can destroy enemy aircraft from a distance of 50 to 70 km.
- It provides ultimate protection against a variety of aerial platforms.
- The MRSAM includes command and control, an advanced phased-array radar, mobile launchers and interceptors with advanced RF seeker.

World Cup-winning hockey player Michael Kindo passes away
- Olympic bronze and World Cup-winning hockey player Michael Kindo passed away. He played 3 Men’s Hockey World Cup in 1971,1973 & 1975 where India bagged bronze, silver & gold medals.
- He also represented in 1972 Olympic Games where India secured a bronze medal. Kindo received the Arjuna Award in 1972.

Lt Gen Shantanu Dayal to take charge as Deputy Chief of Army Staff
- Lt Gen Shantanu Dayal has been named the new Deputy Chief of Army Staff (DCOAS). Lt Gen Dayal is the Corps Commander of the Tejpur based 4 Corps. He will take the place of Lt Gen SS Hasabnis who superannuated on December 31 as soon as his replacement arrives.
- Indian Army has undergone a major reshuffle at the top within the Army Headquarters and at the various other formations including the Corps Commanders, administrative and training institutions witnessing the change of guard.
- The other significant change is in the newly-created Department of Military Affairs (DMA) with Chief of Defence Staff as its first Secretary. Lt Gen Taranjit Singh, the first Army officer to join as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) under the Ministry of Defence.

Journalist Day Observed in Maharashtra on 6 January
- The Journalist Day is observed by Maharashtra state government on 6th January every year in the memory of late journalist Balshastri Jambhekar. The first newspaper in the Marathi language named ‘Darpan’, was published on January 6, 1832, the date which also marks the birth anniversary of Balshastri Jambhekar.
- Balshastri Jambhekar is also known as ‘The Father of Marathi Journalism’, for his efforts in starting journalism in the Marathi language, in the form of the first Marathi newspaper and first Marathi monthly.

Tata Power partners with SIDBI to offer easy & affordable financing scheme for MSME
- Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, announced its partnership with SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India) to offer easy and affordable financing scheme for MSME customers in the rooftop solar segment. This scheme will empower MSMEs to adopt sustainable energy for their businesses and promote greener.
- Easy and affordable financing has been one of the barriers for penetration of Solar in the MSME sector in the country.
- To address this challenge, Tata Power and SIDBI have joined hands to design a unique Solar financing solution for the MSME customers helping them switch to rooftop solar without any collateral at an interest rate less than 10%.
- This will also be complemented with a quick sanction and disbursement process (within 7 days with disbursement in 4 days).
- This financing scheme is exclusively for MSME customers of Tata Power for both off-grid and on-grid connections.

RBI introduces Legal Entity Identifier for NEFT, RTGS transactions above Rs 50 crore
- The Reserve Bank of India has introduced Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) for all payment transactions of value Rs 50 crore and above undertaken by entities (non-individuals) via Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT). Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) and National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) are the Centralised Payment Systems operated by RBI. This instruction shall come into effect from April 01, 2021.
- The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) is a 20-digit number used to uniquely identify parties to financial transactions worldwide.
- Reserve Bank has introduced LEI in a phased manner for participants in the over the counter (OTC) derivative and non-derivative markets as also for large corporate borrowers.
- LEI can be obtained from Legal Entity Identifier India Ltd. (LEIL) which is wholly owned subsidiary of Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL).
World Bank Projects Indian Economy to Contract By 9.6% in 2020-21
- World Bank has projected the Indian economy to contract by 9.6 per cent in the fiscal year 2020-21, in its Global Economic Prospects report. World Bank estimates Growth to recover to 5.4 per cent in 2021.
- Apart from this, the global economy is estimated to expand by 4 per cent in 2021 by the World Bank. According to the report, global growth is projected to moderate to 3.8 per cent in 2022.
SMCB becomes India’s 1st urban co-operative bank to transition to SFB
- Uttar Pradesh-based, Shivalik Mercantile Co-operative Bank (SMCB) has become the first urban co-operative bank (UCB) in India to receive a licence from RBI to operate as a Small Finance Bank (SFB). The RBI had given an 18-month timeline to commence business.
- SMCB received the commercial banking license from banking regulator Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on January 06, 2021, to transition to an SFB, under the voluntary transition scheme. The Shivalik Small Finance Bank (SSFB) will start its banking operations from April 2021.
- SSFB operates through 31 branches and over 250 banking agents in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand with 400,000 customers. As on March 31, 2020, the total deposit base of the bank stood at Rs 1,140 crore and total advances stood at Rs 719 crore.
