Himachal Pradesh Weekly Current Affairs: Week 1

Dr. Baldi joins as Chairman RERA:

  • Dr. Shrikant Baldi joined as first Chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Himachal Pradesh while retired IAS officer BC Badalia and retired chief architect R. K. Verma joined as its members.

Rs.7900 crore State plan size proposed for FY 2020-21:

  • The State plan size has been proposed for Rs. 7900 crore for the financial year 2020-21, which is Rs. 800 crore more than 2019-20, with about 11 percent increase.

State registers a tremendous increase in gross revenue collection: 

  • The State has registered an increase of Rs. 538.51 crore gross revenue collection during the current year till December 2019 as compared to revenue collection till December 2018, thereby registering an increase of 17.3 percent.
  • The total revenue collected up to December 2019 was Rs. 3653.68 crore whereas it was Rs. 3115.17 crore up to December 2018.
  • An increase in revenue collection was due to the effective implementation of policies of the state government besides sincere and hard efforts of officers and officials of the Excise and Taxation department.
  • The total SGST revenue collected up to December, 2019 was Rs. 1207.59 crore whereas it was Rs. 796.08 crore up to December, 2018.

Anil Kumar Khachi assumes charge of Chief Secretary:

  • Anil Kumar Khachi assumed the charge of new Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh.
  • He is a Himachal Pradesh Cadre IAS Officer of 1986 Batch.
  • Anil Kumar Khachi was born on 22nd June, 1963.
  • He is an alumnus in St. Stephen’s College of Delhi University and Delhi School of Economics.
  • He has a rich administrative experience of 33 years.

9th National Winter Carnival-2020 inaugurated:

  • CM inaugurated  Five days long 9th National Winter Carnival-2020 at Manali in Kullu district and flagged off Winter Carnival Parade from Circuit House Manali after performing Puja at the famous Hidimba Mata Temple at Manali.
  • Winter Carnival is organized from 2nd January to 6th January every year.

Himachal receives Commendation Award for Total Food Grain Production:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Commendation Award to Himachal Pradesh under Krishi Karmanya Award 2016-17 of Central Government for excellent performance in total food grain production Category-2.
  • The total food grain production in the State has increased to 1562.73 lakh ton in the year 2016-17.
  • The department has done a commendable job in polyhouse farming, crop diversification, micro-irrigation, natural farming, irrigation, mechanization and soil health management.

  • The Khichdi/ Largest Serving of beans and rice weighing 1995 kilogram net prepared by Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation entered in the Guinness World Records today at Tattapani in Mandi district.
  • The earlier record under this title was 918.8 kg.

CM announces Makar Sakranti of Brijeshwari Dham as District Level Festival:

  • CM announced Makar Sakranti festival of Brijeshwari Dham as district level festival.

CM presides over 47th Tribal Advisory Council Meeting:

  • The State Government was giving special thrust on development of tribal areas of the State so that they could develop at par with the other areas of the State.
  • 9 percent of the State budget has been earmarked for Tribal Sub Plan  for overall development of the tribal areas.
  • Rs. 904 crore Plan and Rs. 831 crore Non Plan allocations have been made under the Tribal Sub Plan during the current financial year.

MoU signed for development of airport at Nagchala

MoU signed for development of airport at Nagchala:

  • The Memorandum of Understanding for development of Greenfield airport at Nagchala in Mandi district Himachal Pradesh was signed between the Government of HP and Airports Authority of India (AAI) at New Delhi.
  • The development of Greenfield airport at Nagchala will be through a Joint Venture Company (JVC) wherein AAI will hold 51 percent equity and the remaining 49 percent will be held by State government or its designated agency.
  • The JVC shall undertake the functions of design, finance, construction, completion of the airport project for commercial civil aviation operation and maintenance, operation and management of the airport.
  • The State Government shall acquire and transfer land for the airport to the JVC for the project.

‘Himachal Pradesh Nasha Nivaran Board’ constituted to curb drug menace:

  • With a view to curb the menace of drug abuse in the Himachal Pradesh, the State Government has constituted ‘Himachal Pradesh Nasha Nivaran Board’ under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
  • The Board would act as a Co-Coordinator between various Drug and Narcotics Enforcement Agencies of the State and would also suggest ways and means to tackle the menace of inter-state drug trafficking, production and distribution within the State.

Baisakhi Nalwar Mela Jhandutta and Nalwar Mela Sunhani in Bilaspur district declared as District level Fair:

  • The Cabinet gave its approval to declare Baisakhi Nalwar Mela Jhandutta and Nalwar Mela Sunhani in Bilaspur district as District level Fair to promote rich culture and tradition of the district.

Himachal Pradesh conferred with Award of Excellence for HimPragati online portal:

  • Himachal Pradesh has been conferred Award of Excellence CSI SIG e-Governance award-2019 by the Computer Society of India for Him Pragati online system of Chief Minister’s Office.
  • The award has been conferred to the State for the effective implementation of the HimPragati portal.
  • The HimPragati portal was implemented by the State Government as per the budget announcement of the Chief Minister for online monitoring of various projects related to power, tourism industries, etc.
  • In addition to this, programmes such as Jan Manch and Him Vikas Samiksha etc. are also being monitored through this portal.

Himachal Pradesh participating in Surajkund Crafts Mela as ‘Theme State’:

  • For the promotion of Tourism, Cultural-Heritage, Cuisines and Himachali products, the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Himachal Pradesh along with Industries Department, Language, Art and Culture and Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is participating in the 34th Surajkund International Crafts Mela-2020 as a “Theme State.
  • Himachal Pradesh got the opportunity to showcase the tourism potential, cultural-heritage, handloom-handicrafts, and other products of the state at an international level platform.
  • The prestigious Surajkund International Crafts Mela is scheduled from 1st to 16th February, 2020 at Surajkund, Faridabad (Haryana).
