IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Stages of selection

The selection procedure of IBPS RRB includes six stages -
  • Online registration
  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Single Online Examination

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Online Registration

  • Candidates who wish to appear for the IBPS RRB recruitment process should register themselves first.
  • The candidates are required to apply through online mode
  • All candidates who apply successfully for the exam will be called to apply for the prelims exam.

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Preliminary Examination

  • Candidates applying the posts of Officers Scale I and Office Assistants (Multipurpose) will have to appear for the Preliminary Examination.The IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Prelims Exam is scheduled to be held on 11th August, 12 August and 18th August 2018
  • The prelims exam is an objective test which will be conducted online.
  • Only two section will be asked in Prelims exam which are Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. IBPS RRB Officer Scale I is a test of 80 marks and 45 minutes total duration.
  • There is no sectional time limit in IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Prelims Exam.
  • Prelims Exam is qualifying in nature and marks obtained in it will not be considered for the final selection.

Candidate to be shortlisted for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Mains Exam -

  • The candidates appearing in IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Prelims Exam are required to secure minimum cut-off marks to be eligible for Mains Exam.
  • Adequate number of candidates in each category, depending upon requirements, will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Online Mains Examination

  • Only those candidates who will qualify the Preliminary Examination as per the IBPS RRB Selection Procedure 2018 will appear for the Mains Examination which will be conducted on 30th September 2018.
  • The Mains Examination for Officers and Office Assistant (Multipurpose) will consist of 200 questions for 200 marks.Candidates will be given 120 Minutes (2 hours) to attempt all questions.The Test will be conducted in online mode.
  • A candidate can choose either English Language or Hindi Language Test. 
  • There will be five sections – Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English, Hindi language and Computer Knowledge in the test.
  • There is no sectional time limit in IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Mains Exam.
  • Candidates applying for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) will be provided provisional allotment on the basis of the marks obtained in the Mains Examination and vacancies reported by RRBs.
  • For the post of Officers Scale I, candidates qualifying the Mains Examination will be called for the Interview.

How will the candidate be shortlisted for IBPS RRB Officer Scale I Interview process -

  • Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each section of Online Main examination to be considered to be shortlisted for interview.
  • Depending on the number of vacancies available, adequate number of candidates in each category not exceeding three times of the declared vacancies in each state shall be called for the interview, subject to availability.

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Single Online Examination

  • Candidates applying for Scale II (Generalist and Specialists) and Scale III will appear for a single online examination.
  • Shortlisted candidates in the single examination will subsequently be called for a Common Interview.
  • The Total marks for the tests will be 200.
  • Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Single examination to be considered to be shortlisted for interview.

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Interview

  • Interview is applicable for the posts of Officers Scale I, II and III
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted in the main examination for the post of Officers Scale I and in the single level examination for the post of Officers Scale II and III will subsequently be called for an Interview.
  • The interview will be co-ordinated by the Nodal Regional Rural Bank with the help of NABARD and IBPS in consultation with the appropriate authority.
  • The total marks allotted for Interview are 100.
  • The minimum qualifying marks/scores in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
  • The minimum qualifying marks for the post of Officers Scale II and III should not be less than 40% for all the candidates except 35% for SC / ST/OBC/PWD candidates.

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Local Language Proficiency

  • Candidates who have already studied the language of the State in standard VIII or any level above standard VIII in Government recognized Boards of Education/ School or having any certificate to the effect for standard VIII or any level above standard VIII would be considered proficient in that local language.
  • If a candidate does not fulfil the above-required criteria, he/she will be given a time of six months from the date of joining to acquire the local language proficiency. 
  • This six months period can be extended by the Boards of RRBs within the framework of the rules and provided that such extension should not be beyond the probation period.

IBPS Selection Procedure - Document verification

The provisional allotment in RRBs will be depend on candidates’ fulfilling the criteria for RRBs and identity verification. In case it is detected at any stage of the recruitment process that, the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria his/her candidature/ chance in the process shall stand cancelled. Issuance of appointment letter including terms and conditions, formalities for verification, joining etc. is solely the decision of the RRBs and shall be final and binding.

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure - Final Allotment

  • The relative  (ratio) of CWE and interview will be 80:20 respectively for the Officers cadre.
  • A candidate should qualify both in the CWE and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.
  • On completion of the interview process/ main examination, depending on the vacancies to be filled in, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the RRBs based on merit-cum-preference.
