RBI
You are given 120 minutes to do 200 questions. Seems like a gigantic task and a race against time. Let us demystify it a bit.
Talking about the time given, one doesn’t need to attempt all the questions. In fact, attempting all the questions is a sure shot way to suicide. You need to just clear sectional cutoffs (which are 25% of sectional score) and then focus towards maximising your score. Different people would have different strategies to deal with this phase. Let us plot a few scenarios:
- GA heavy preparation – If you have prepared for UPSC or bank PO or any other exam, chances are you are well versed with GA. You have must have gone through last 6 months of current happenings and would have covered banking terms and banking knowledge from various sources like Banker’s adda or GK today or Vision IAS. If you fall in this category, we would suggest you to strive for 65+ marks in GA section and clear cutoff of remain 3 sections. You have to attempt almost all the questions to achieve this score. There is a scope to make intelligent guesses here as well. You would require approximately 10 marks in Quant, 18-20 in Reasoning and around 15 in English to get a total of 110.
- CAT heavy strategy – If you have never studied GA religiously in past 6 months but have prepared for MBA, we would advise you to follow this strategy. Since, you just need to be sure of getting a total of 110, you can focus of reasoning, Quant and English as well. For someone who has prepared for CAT, English would be sitter. He can score around 25 marks in less than 20 minutes in English. Reasoning is not very tough as well and you can strive to get 30-35 in this section given that you devote 50 minutes to this. Similarly, in quant, one can easily score 20 if he devote 30 minutes. Therefore, CAT junta need to score (25+18+32 ) 75 in all the section apart from GA in around 100 minutes leaving aside 20 minutes for GA. In these 20 minutes only do those question which you definitely know. Don’t even make intelligent guesses. Just focus on getting a score of 30-35 in this section. Believe me, 20 minutes will be more than enough.
