The SBI PO Prelims exam is not too far away as the SBI PO 2018 notification is now out! The exam is taking place this year to fill 2000 vacancies for probationary officers. If you plan to prepare for the SBI PO 2018 exam, you need to take note of the changes in the SBI PO Prelims exam and understand the selection process thoroughly. 

SBI PO 2018 New Exam Pattern with Changes

This article will cover the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2018 in detailed and comprehensive manner. SBI PO exam takes place in 3 stages – Prelims, Mains and Interview.
Note that a few important changes in the SBI PO exam 2018 are:
  1. SBI PO 2018 exam will have sectional timings in Prelims.
  2. However, there will be no sectional cutoffs in Prelims.
  3. Ratio of candidates selected for SBI PO Mains 2018 will be 1:10.

SBI PO Exam Pattern  Prelims (Phase I)

NOTE:
  1. As negative marking (penalty) for wrong answers, marks equal to one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
  2. No negative marking for unattended questions.
  3. No sectional cut offs.

SBI PO Exam Pattern  Mains (Phase II)

SBI PO Mains 2018 will be consist of 2 parts

  1. Objective Test (200 marks) 
  2. Descriptive Test (50 marks).

Both the parts will take place online.

SBI PO Mains: Descriptive Test

The descriptive paper will be of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks assigned to the test of English Language. You will be tested on Letter Writing & Essay. You will be needed to secure passing marks to qualify the Descriptive Test, to be decided by the Bank.
NOTE: The Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.

SBI PO Group Exercise & Interview (Phase III)

Aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both Objective and Descriptive Tests will be arranged in descending order in each category. A certain adequate number of candidates as decided by the bank, will be called for the Group Discussion and Interview.

Selection Procedure for SBI PO 2018 Exam

The selection procedure will be divided into 3 parts, consisting of 2 written papers and a third GD/Interview round. The Preliminary examination is only qualifying in nature and will not be counted towards the final total. Only those who qualify through Phase II will be eligible to attend Phase III processes. The scores of the remaining two rounds will be normalized to 100 as follows:
