RBI Assistant 2017 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

RBI Assistant is tentatively scheduled in the month of January 2018. The Notification for the same is to be released tentatively in the month of November 2017. The Exam will be conducted in three phases:
  1. Preliminary Phase
  2. Mains Phase
  3. Language Proficiency Test
The RBI Assistant Exam 2017 has a defined syllabus for all the sections for both preliminary examination and mains examination. The major sections been asked are that of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. These three sections are common in both preliminary exam and mains exam. Apart from these three sections additional section of General Awareness and Computer Knowledge is added in Mains Exam. Candidates are required to clear the sectional cut-off as well the overall cut-off for each phase of examination in order to get selected for further round of RBI Assistant 2017 Exam.

RBI Assistant 2017 Exam Pattern

RBI has introduced two major changes in the pattern of RBI Assistant Mains exam 2017 though exam pattern of RBI Assistant Prelims 2017 remains the same. The online examination will be conducted in two phases, i.e. Preliminary and Main examination. Shortlisted candidates from Prelims exam will be called for mains examination. However final selection will be decided on the basis of Mains examination, only.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT) for RBI Assistant Exam 2017

The candidates provisionally selected from the main on-line examination will have to undergo a language proficiency test (LPT). The language proficiency test will be conducted in the Official / Local Language of the State concerned (Annex-IV). Candidate not proficient in the Official/Local Language would be disqualified.

Important points to note for RBI Assistant Exam 2017

  • The above main online tests except the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
  • Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests of the online examinations.
  • A candidate has to qualify in Preliminary Examination for appearing in Main Examination.
  • There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests (Preliminary and Main examination). 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • ) Only such number of candidates will be called for Language Proficiency Test who stand sufficiently high in merit on the aggregate marks of the Objective Tests, such merit being decided by the Bank in relation to the number of notified vacancies to be filled in.
  • Final selection will be on the basis of candidate’s performance in the online main examination, biometric
    verification and Language Proficiency Test taken together in order of merit.
  • Appointment of selected candidate will be subject his/her being declared medically fit as per the rules of the Bank.

Major changes in RBI Assistant Mains Exam 2017

  • There’s now sectional time limit in the Mains exam. Earlier there was composite time limit for all the sections.
  • Hence candidates cannot switch between sections now.
  • Earlier, the total time for RBI Mains exam was 2 hours whereas, this this year you get 2 hours 15 minutes (if you sum up the sectional time limit for each section RBI Assistant Mains)
