BANKING & ECONOMY

  • Canara Bank has tied up with New India Assurance Company (NIACL), which is general insurance company, to sell policies through its Branches.
  • The Indian Overseas Bank launched Retail Mart, a Retail lending concept with aim to complete all the pre-release formalities at the customer’s doorstep and sanction quality retail loans at a competitive rate of interest with a minimum turnaround time, in Kerala.
  • Mumbai based Axis Bank has become to first to launch Bio-degradable Prepaid Gift Cards.
  • NITI Aayog launched SATH (Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital) program for cooperative federalism.
  • The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has taken over the administration of Sahara India Life Insurance. This is a first of its kind move in the insurance sector.
  • Vijaya Bank is going to develop 100 Digital Villages across the country to promote digital banking among the rural population.
  • RBI will issue new Rs. 500 bank note with inset letter A.
  • According to the Code Compliance Rating of Banks done by the Banking Codes and Standards Board of India (BCSBI) 2017, only one IDBI Bank out of 26 public sector banks and eight out of 17 private sector banks got ‘high’ rating for their adherence to code compliance.
  • Yes Bank partners with TerraPay for Faster international remittance.
  • RBI has placed Central Bank of India under Prompt Corrective Action (PCA) which puts restriction on Banking activities. So far, RBI has Triggered PCAs for 4 Banks- UCO Bank, DENA Bank, India Overseas Bank and Central Bank earlier.

  • Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha launched a digital experience for Air Travelers through
  • ‘DigiYatra’ Platform in New Delhi.
  • France and the European Union have extended a grant of 3.5 million Euros under the ‘Moblise Your City (MYC)’ initiative. Three Indian cities- Ahmedabad, Kochi and Nagpur will grant as part of the EU’s commitment under the Paris Climate agreement. MYC aims to extend help to 100 cities globally to reduce Green House Gas Emission.
  • The First-ever Indian Railways Human Resources Round Table Conference has started in New Delhi.
  • The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee launched a mobile application ‘Selfie with Daughter’ with aims at rising awareness among people about female feticide and sex selection.
  • Padmalaya Nanda has won the 2017 Little Miss Universe Internet Beauty contest in Georgia.
  • India’s first canal top Solar PV system at NTPC Mouda Thermal Power Project, Maharashtra.
  • India to be Co-partner Country in ANUGA 2017- An International business platform for food industry held in Colonge, Germany.
  • Railway Ministry launches Mission Retro-Fitment to enhance the passenger experience.
  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) in order to intensify efforts to reduce child death due to Diarrhea.
