Solving the ESI Mystery for RBI grade B

So ESI remains mystery for most of us. What shall we study? Which books to cover? Newspaper? Economic survey? RBI circulars? Astrology? Physics? Chemistry? Fine arts? People have all kind of opinions and understandings.
Let us try and put some sanity to this and understand the syllabus and booklist.
So the last year’s circular says that this is the syllabus:

For our purpose, we will talk about NCERTS and any book on Indian Economy (Taking Ramesh Singh – 7th edition for citations). Let us see which resources are required for each chapter READ CLASS XI ECONOMICS AND CLASS XII MACROECONOMICS NCERTS COVER TO COVER – THEY ARE VERY IMPORTANT AND COVERS ALMOST 60% OF THE SYLLABUS.

  4. Industrial and Labour Policy. Chapter 5, 7, 8 – Class XI NCERT
  5. Monetary and Fiscal Policy. Chapters 3, 4, 5- Macroeconomics NCERT class XII

Apart from NCERTs, following chapter of Ramesh Singh shall be done: 
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, (11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18 
– For FM), 15, 16, 19, 20, 21

This is almost the entire book. just bear in mind that you don’t need to read it from cover to cover unlike NCERTs.

Still following portions shall remain uncovered:
Multiculturalism, Polity in India, Social Justice. – This will be majorly current affairs based and should cover all the important schemes introduced by GOI.

Reports to be read: Economic Survey of India

Whenever you read NCERTs make soft copy notes and keep on adding material from Ramesh Singh and current happenings. Most important topics here will be related to Government schemes and initiatives. Also, keep on eye on bodies like WTO, UN, World Bank and what is happening there. ESI is more about General awareness of the syllabus mentioned and doesn’t require a lot of static study.
