Lewis Hamilton grabs the top spot in Chinese Grand Prix 2017.

  • The British Formula one Mercedes Driver scored his first win of the year with Chinese Grand Prix 2017.
  • Ferrari driver, Sebastian Vettel stood second in the race, with Max Verstappen grabbing the third spot.
  • The Formula One Chinese Grand Prix 2017 took place in Beijing, China.


Boxing Federation of India granted affiliation by Indian Olympic Association.

  • As per Ajay Singh, President, Boxing Federation of India (BFI), the affiliation granted by  Indian Olympic Association is subject to ratification by the Executive Council/General Body of the IOA (Indian Olympic Association).
  • The affiliation to BFI was earlier refused by IOA, which considered now non-functioning Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (AIBA) as the official National Sport Body.
  • With this move, BFI has now become a fully recognised body for Boxing in India. It already has affiliation from AIBA and Sports Ministry.


‘Bharat ke Veer’ App launched by Government.

  • The App, ‘Bharat ke Veer’ was launched collectively by Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar.
  • ‘Bharat ke Veer’ has been launched as a mobile app as well as a web portal. The aim of the app is to help in contributions towards the families of soldiers who lost their lives while on duty.
  • As per the statement of Home Ministry, the amount donated through the app/ portal will be provided to the ‘next of kin’ of the soldiers of Central Armed Police Force/ Central Para Military Force. The donors can also help the soldiers they wish to support or donate to ‘Bharat ke Veer’ corpus through this app/ portal.


DNA Bank for Wildlife to be established in North India.

  • The DNA Bank would be set up by the scientists of Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly, who are currently collecting the DNA samples of wild animals.
  • The setting up of DNA Bank for Wildlife is also expected to bring down poaching.
  • Currently, Hyderabad’s Laboratory for the Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES) is the only body to offer DNA Bank facility.


PM Modi to launch Digital Exhibition to mark 100 years to Champaran Satyagrah.

  • Narendra Modi will launch the special digital exhibition, ‘Swachhagraha – Bapu Ko Karyanjali’ to celebrate the centenary of Champaran Satyagrah, Mahatma Gandhi’s initiative of freedom struggle.
  • The exhibition aims to connect the essential principles of Satyagraha with Swachhagraha.
  • The exhibition will be launched at National Archives in New Delhi.


President picks lucky winners of Digi Dhan Vyapar and Lucky Grahak Yojana.

  • Six lucky winners were picked by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan, out of which 3 are customers  and 3 are merchants.
  • The first prize worth Rs. 1 crore was awarded to the customer of Central Bank of India, who performed an online transaction of Rs. 1590. The second prize worth Rs. 50 lakh went to the customer of Bank of Baroda and third prize worth Rs. 25 lakh was awarded to Punjab National Bank’s customer.
  • The merchants were awarded cash prize of Rs. 50 lakhs, Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs. 12 lakhs.


22 agreements signed between India and Bangladesh.

  • The agreements between the 2 countries were signed during Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India.
  • These agreements have been signed in various fields, namely, defence, nuclear energy, cyber security and media.
  • Prime Minister, Narendra Modi offered $4.5 billion concessional line of credit to help implement the projects in Bangladesh.
  • He also offered $500million of additional line of credit for military supplies to Bangladesh.


India - Mongolia hold Joint Military Exercise.

  • ‘Nomadic Elephant’, 12th joint military exercise of India and Mongolia has started in Vairengte, Mizoram.
  • 084 Special Forces Task Battalion’s 9 officers and 36 soldiers represent the Mongolian Army in the exercise. 3 officers, 4 JCO’s and 39 soldiers of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles represent the Indian Army in the joint exercise.


Tim Berners Lee honoured with ACM’s A.M. Turing Award.

  • MIT Professor and inventor of World Wide Web, Tim Berners Lee has been awarded Computer Science’s most prestigious award, A. M. Turing Award.
  • The award is provided by Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and carries cash prize of $ 1 million which is provided by Google.
  • A. M. Turing award is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Computing.


M. Achuthan, Literary Critic passed away.

  • Renowned Literary critic, M. Achuthan breathed his last in Kochi where he was undergoing treatment.
  • Achuthan served as the President of Samastha Kerala Sahithya Parishad as well as Sahithya Pravarthaka Sahakarana Sangham. He was also the executive member of Kerala Sahitya Akademi.
