India-Mozambique ink three agreements

India and Mozambique have signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in areas of drug trafficking, pulse trading and sports. These MoUs were signed between two countries at Maputo, Mozambique in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Filipe Nyusi, President of Mozambique.


Namami Gange projects for cleaning river Ganga launchedUnion Government has launched various projects under Namami Gange programme for cleaning of river Ganga and its tributaries from Haridwar, Uttarakand. It was launched by Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti. Besides, simultaneous projects were also launched at over 103 locations in seven states for cleaning of river Ganga and its tributaries from Gangotri to Howrah

Noted Music director Omi passes away

Noted music director Om Prakash Sonik passed away in Mumbai, Maharashtra after a brief illness. He was 77. He was composer part of the Sonik-Omi duo consisting of Master Sonik (a blind music director) and his nephew Omi.

Astronomers discover HD 131399Ab, planet with three suns
A team of international astronomers for the first time have sighted a Jovian planet orbiting a triple star system. The planet has been named as HD 131399Ab.

BRICS drug control meeting begins in New Delhi

India and South Africa have signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and agreements in four areas of bilateral co-operation. These MoUs were signed in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South African President Jacob Juma in Pretoria, South Africa.

India has set up an apparel training centre in Kaduna, Nigeria to support textiles industry of the West African country. This is a first of its kind centre in Nigeria which has been set up by India in partnership with their government.

World famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath beginsIn Gujarat, 139th annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath began in Ahmedabad on 07th July 2016 The historic Rath Yatra began from 400 years old Lord Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur area of old city. The festival is celebrated on second day of Sukla Paksha i.e. the day in bright fortnight of Ashadha month. It will see congregation of more than 10 lakh devotees.
