Arnab De Won Springer Theses Award
“Indian-American scientist Arnab De has received the prestigious Springer Theses Award. Arnab De’s thesis was nominated by New York’s Columbia University. Before this, De, who has also developed peptide-based prodrugs as therapeutics for diabetes, had received the Young Investigator Award at the American Peptide Symposium. The thesis prize is awarded by Springer, a leading global publisher of renowned scientific journals and books, to recognize outstanding PhD research.”

Aditi Krishnakumar Won 2016 Scholastic Asian Book Award
Indian author Aditi Krishnakumar has won the prestigious 2016 Scholastic Asian Book Award. She was awarded for her 32000-word manuscript “Codex: The Lost Treasure of the Indus”. She won the 10000 Singapore dollar award for her manuscript that carried contemporary feel and roots deep into history of India. The manuscript will be published by Scholastic Asia.Presently Aditi Krishnakumar is working with Agent Lila Raman to decipher the mysterious script of the Indus Valley civilization. He first published book ‘A Whole Summer Long’ in 2012 was also shortlisted for the Scholastic Asian Book Award 2014.

Lakshadweep becomes First UT To Sign 24×7 ‘Power for All’ Document
Lakshadweep became first Union Territory (UT) in the country to sign 24×7 Power for All document. The document was signed by representative of Union Government and administration of Lakshadweep. At present, 10 inhabited islands of Lakshadweep are mostly fed by diesel.

Jordan’s King Abdullah Dissolves Parliament
Jordan’s King Abdullah appointed veteran politician Hani Mulqi as caretaker prime minister after dissolving parliament as its four-year term nears its end, and charged him with organising new elections by October. The king accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour before appointing Mulqi by royal decree. Mulki has held senior government posts in successive administrations. Under the constitutional rules the election must be held within four months.
